This was the greatest hotel I have ever stayed in. I'm over 'same same' hotels and marvelled at the grandness of the Wellesley. Of course, you can get 'grand' at lots of places but none have the class, history and location of this place. It was especially enjoyable because I am a Kiwi and value the heritage but I also loved the elegance of the staircase, opulent drapes, the timeless oak panelling, the well-placed wingback chairs, the high ceilings and ornamental plasterwork. On top of this, the hotel is right in the middle of the city, has a (welcome after a cold day) bath and possibly the whitest, fluffiest towels in the history of towels. It was quiet with a marvellously comfortable bed (with chocolates on the pillows no less). The staff were gracious and clearly have high expectations of cleanliness as it was spotless.

Prachtig hotel met een mooi verhaal. Sfeervol. Kamer is van alle luxe voorzien. Goede locatie in het centrum, alles is op redelijke loopafstand (van het Te Papa, het centraal station tot aan de veerboot).

Fantastic old school style meets modern luxury. A real balance between charm and practicality. Our room was large and had a desk, two comfortable chairs, large bed, a huge bath and a double shower. All done with Air-conditioning! The staff pleasant and accommodating.

The room was excellent. It had everything we wanted and more. The only disappoin**ent was that we could only stay one night. Restaurants were nearby and it was a short walk from the train station. It was pleasure staying in an historical building.

So pleased we chose to stay here. A classical delight in the centre of the city. A perfect location for business or travel. Food, drink, shopping, and entertainment close at hand. The unique original architecture is a bonus as the large room was most comfortable and well resourced. We really recommend the hotel as a different accommodation experience.

I received a lovely friendly welcome from Fiona who went out of her way to look after me. The hotel is brilliantly situated for central Wellington and the waterfront. The room (Jeffries) was very big the bathroom had a good bath and the biggest hotel shower I’ve ever seen. Very clean too. I’ll be back …

This is not the first time we stayed at the hotel. We love the a**osphere and the character. Really nice hotel with great service and friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are always sparkling clean. The hotel has a great location, a fraction away from the noisy city center, which makes it really quiet with all the amenities in walking distance. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you

I loved staying here. There is here, an old world charm and elegance reflecting a time past. It is very clean and comfortable. Nice to be able to walk out and straight into the middle of town. I haven’t tried the restaurant yet. I might come for a week some time.

The Wellesley is a modest but charming older hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are big and even more important quiet. Jess at the front desk is sweet and welcoming. Don’t expect frills, but a good night’s sleep and convenience to the wharf, shopping and Sky Stadium are a real plus.
