My daughter and I stayed at Pete’s Farm on our last leg of the Otago Rail Trail. Pete was the perfect host. He picked us up from the pub, organised the overnight stay of our bikes and offered to bring us back for dinner. Pete gave us a history lesson of the area and the community. We visited the family farm close by and met some of the woolly family members River, Sky, Pepper and Salt. Not to mention Flossy the Jack Russell. The cottage has so much character and history. We were fortunate to have the place to ourselves. It was clean, comfortable and really homely. The breakfast options were many. Pete made us his yummy signature homemade bread. He is the perfect host, great conversationalist, super friendly and gave helpful advice about the Trail. He is a salt of the earth Southlander. You can’t go past Waipiata without meeting him and staying at the Farm. We highly recommend it and look forward to staying there again.
