Lazy Guesthouse

We were staying in Vieques for just one night and only needed a basic spot to shower and sleep. This one fit the bill and was conveniently located just a 5 minute walk from the Bioluminescent Bay tour Meetup point and a 30 minute walk from Playa Negra. Cons: A LOT of light coming in through the windows at night when trying to sleep. Nightstand lamps flickered continuously. Bar next door stays open late. I can sleep through noise, but my friend couldn't. - I booked through *******, which may be why I never got an email with check-in details. I arrived and called several times, but no answer. A friendly woman asked if we were trying to check in and directed us towards a bartender next door who gave us our room detail.

The website said there was one room left at the price and we were the only guests checked in there . I thought that was strange. It is all self check in and there is no manager on duty and there is nobody to help you out you just put the code in the day you check in and you're on your own so if you have a problem there's nobody to talk to and the people at lazy Jack's are not affiliated with this hostel at all. If I would have known we were the only people out of the whole hostel I probably would not have booked !! It was really cute and we had our own shower when it said it had shared bathrooms so that was a plus . It was walking distance to lazy Jack's restaurant and the water ! You can sign up for the bioluminescent Bay tour and they pick you up right there at lazy Jack's and the golf carts to rent are right next door which is great. All and all I enjoyed the place .

The room is small but sufficient, clean and neat. The shower and bath are outside of the room, but this was not a problem.

No clear check in instruction and wrong contact phone number on the booking confirmation.

A lot of mosquitoes in the room. AC was cold, which is amazing during the daytime, but freezing at night under 1 thin blanket. The remote to control the AC didn’t work. You can also hear loud music from a bar down the road until 1am and then roosters/pheasants screaming at 4am every 20 seconds. I had to sleep with a sweater and earplugs in. Otherwise the area was good with walking distance to restaurants/bars/tour meeting points. And the bed was comfortable. Water pressure in the shower was good.

Cheapest deal online, so can't complain about that 👍 but the ac units are way to big for a small room and create massive condensation, so much so, that it's dripping from the bathroom ceiling like rain, and has produced an unsightly amount of black mold, making it completely unpleasant to even be in there. At first glance, the room appears very nice, but It's clear that the cleaning staff doesn't focus on the room as a whole, because the amount of debris under the bed was disgusting, plastic cupS, sand, hair balls, hair tie, wrappers and a battery, plus Cobwebs in the corners and all in the only lil window of the room. Despite that, the location is great. I would just recommend that they provide a broom for the room, so guests can keep the dirt they track in down to a minimum. Couldn't ask for anything more. Stayed in a private room with own bathroom. great shower and comfy bed. I think the guesthouse has recently been refurbished to only have private rooms. Perfectly located at the edge of the main *****. Lots of bars and restaurants within a few mins walk. Golf cart rental just down the road. Wild horses visit and a really sweet black cat roams the courtyard. Lazy jacks bar next door is convenient and do great burgers. Friendly locals. Would definitely stay again.

Some weird reviews about this place. If you read the description, you won’t be shocked by anything. Exactly as stated. Not a hotel, not a hostel, but a guesthouse behind one of the best bars on the island. Booked a queen room, exactly as pictured with our own toilet and shower. If you’re staying a single night on the island to do a bio bay tour this is a super cheap option. No bugs, no smell, no dirt, clean sheets, queen bed, private room. Exactly what we were looking for. Located walking distance from adventure sports kiosks and 5-6 very good restaurants with English and Spanish speaking workers.

This place was perfect for us. We were only staying in vieques for one night (bio bay tour). We just needed a place to sleep and a bathroom. We spent most of our 24 hours exploring the island but was a perfect place to rest. There is a restaurant on site and was great! It was walking distance to mostly everything we had planned. I would like to note for others that the restaurant on site is one of they only late night places on the island so may be a little loud at night for some. We were aware of this as it was listed in the property description but we also didn’t mind the noise. You know what you are getting when you book It. Price was great for what we were looking for and check-in was easy.
