Hotel Atlanta

I stayed at this hotel with my mum, while we were visiting Vienna for a week, in July 2022. There was no option to go back this far on Trip Advisor , so please bear this in mind! We had been travelling around Austria for three weeks, and stayed here for one week in July 2022. It's a grand old-fashioned high ceilinged 19th century Viennese building, which has been turned into a hotel. While it's beautiful and impressive to look at and wander around in, you realise how impractical this is once you start staying there. The rooms are spacious and comfortable - but no atmosphere to them. Just the basics provided, without any attempt to make you feel comfortable there. The bathroom was on a step down from the bedroom area, and without proper ventilation inside, so it got very hot and stuffy while using it. When we visited, temperatures hit upwards of 35 degrees - and so, in a hotel full of carpets, grand windows and high ceilings, the atmosphere was stifling! They gave us a few fans, but this really didn't help with air circulation. It's not the hotel's fault - but if they know this will a problem in the future, perhaps they can better prepare for it. However, one fault of the hotel is definitely the staff they employed - cold unfriendly, and pretentious. When we arrived, we asked if there were restaurants in the area we could go to - the clerk replied he had no idea. Later on, we discovered plenty as we wandered down the road... We also asked if we can have hot water or a kettle of some kind, to make tea and coffee in our room. The clerk looked really shocked by this request and didn't offer any help at all. I don't think it's too unreasonable to ask for that in a hotel, especially a 4 star one. I jokingly called it Hotel Atlantis, while we were there - because it felt like it was a proud, ancient hotel that had fallen into the sea, and they hadn't bothered to look after it since then!

This place is just awesome to visit Viena in short time, we recommend you to buy a train ticket 24,48 or 72 hours and you will easy visit all the attractions, the train station is just 3 minutes away. The breakfast is very good, and the staff helpful. Room is big and bed are so confortable that we spended a whole day sleeping, clean and everything works.

The location of the hotel is quite nice, but the rooms were pretty old. The bathroom was making a lot of noise when turning the light on. The curtains were not filtering the lights at all. Staff was pretty nice. We did not try the breakfast. For me it is not a 4 stars hotel. Some renovations are needed.

The hotel is in a very good location, 10-12 mins walk from the Schottentor subway station and trams interchange. We stayed in the hotel for one night, the hotel met our expectations. You can park your car in the nearby streets, parking is free at the weekend. The hotel offers breakfast but we didn't use it. The room we got was on the street side with trams running so it's not perfectly quiet. However, you cannot expect from a hotel in the center of Vienna that there will be rural silence in it :-)

Im very disappointed about me staying there!I think the cleaning lady stole my bag and they tell me “we dont know” nothing more,I was crying 2 hours because I have bought a lot of things!Very horrible behavior,Be careful dont go there😭,Stela

Let’s get one item out of the way: the hotel describes itself as four-star. This may have been the case when it was built in 1895, but it doesn’t reflect the modern meaning of the term. On the other hand, not many hotels offered free Wi-fi in 1895... This is an old building, with the remains of the original lift still occupying the center of its spiral staircase, but it has been upgraded to a level which is perfectly acceptable in the 21st century (including a new lift). Our room was relatively small, but had a high ceiling This gives an air of spaciousness, but the modern, LED lighting makes it look dingy. Better to spend your evenings in one of the many local cafes. There is a rather nice lounge, with wood paneling, and the breakfast room has a genteel, faded feel about it, which is enhanced by the Viennese background music and the stained glass windows overlooking Währinger Straße. Breakfast was not included in our room rate, but it was reasonably priced, and was the typical cold cuts/brötchen German breakfast, plus the option of scrambled eggs, baked beans and Wienerwurst. Unlimited coffee. Nothing special, but filling. They have free Wifi. We chose this hotel because it was a relatively short walking distance from the Volksoper and the center of town - about fifteen minutes each way. We wanted to avoid public transport during the pandemic. It's right on a tram route, if you want to save a bit of time. Currently, you need an FFP2 mask on the tram. And yes, the hotel checked our vaccination status. US vaccination card plus US driver's license was acceptable. Good place to stay, if you want to save a bit of money by avoiding the center of Vienna.

I was there with my friends, on a 4 days trip. Overall the hotel was good, near the city central metro/bus station and the prize was OK for what they offered. We had a family room, with 4 beds. The room was a little bit small for 4 adults but since it was a family room, I think the concept is for 2 adults and 2 kids. The hotel was really clean, the cleaning ladies changed our towels everyday, they maid our bed and even fold our clothes. The breakfast was not included in our room rate. We paid 8.5€ per person to eat breakfast. The buffet was good, with various food, fruit salad, some vegetables, some boiled egg and eggs with ham. It was also included at the breakfast fee hot beverages such as coffee, capuccino, cafelatte or tea and some cold beverages such as fruit juices. The only thing I missed from my usual breakfast, was my fried eggs which I didn’t find at the buffet. The hotel was in a very good location. We were only 100m away from the tram/bus station. You can get tram no.37, 38, 40, 41 or 42 and you will be at the central tram/bus station in less than 5 minutes. Nearby the hotel, you could easily find supermarkets, bars and restaurants. The service of the hotel was good and the staff was nice and polite! I would go again :)

This was bit disappointment. Hotel was clearly outdated and requires some development. Oldfashioned and historic style building is somehow beautiful, but internally needs some maintenance. Average breakfast. This was bit tired experience. Perhaps this has been officially four start hotel, but in my scales not. Maximum three.

In die Jahre gekommenes Jugendstil Hotel mit Charme. Wir verbrachte zwei Nächte im Hotel Atlanta und waren mit dem Zimmer, dem Service und besonders mit der zentralen der Lage des Hotels äusserst zufrieden. Das Zimmer war relativ gross und die Einrichtung war zweckmässig und gemütlich. Sehr gutes Preis- Leistung Verhältnis.
