Cabot Trail Motel

This was a nice mom and pop motel, very clean and comfortable. It is basic, but just what we like. I wished we had stayed and used their restaurant for dinner, I'm sure it would have been better than what we got in town. There was also a wonderful deck to sit on and admire the lake.

I can't say enough about how friendly and welcoming the staff at Cabot Trail are. I went with a large group and the staff handled us with ease and great senses of humor. We used the motel as our base for a week of motorcycling in the area. Rooms were clean, beds comfy, property well maintained.

This is the friendliest place that I have ever stayed. The motel is great and the people are like family. We had a pleasant stay in a great room with a beautiful view of the Bras D'Or (lake.) The restaurant had the same great view and very good food. We then had a personal disaster when our car suffered a catastrophic failure while we were 700 miles from home. The motel owners Cat and Everett and the rest of the staff were angels and went to heroic lengths to save us. Gert and the front desk sent her brother-in-law Richard to help get our car off the road and make sure that we were OK. Everett picked us up and brought us back to the motel. Cat arranged a tow to a repair shop (alas the car could not be fixed.) Cat arranged a rental car. Cat arranged our flights. Everett drove us 45 minutes to the rental car. They then saved us a huge one-way fee by retrieving the rental car from the airport 2 hours away. I have traveled a lot and have seen many things. I have never seen this type of kindness. Gert, Margaret, and Marlene at the front desk were amazingly friendly and helpful. Our waitresses Erica and Bonnie were very friendly and great at their jobs. Our maid Joy was great and kept the room spotless. I did not know any of these people until a few days ago, yet I feel like they are family. I have never written a review like this, but wanted people to know about these wonderful people at the Cabot Trail Motel. The weather was not great and our car died, but this was an unbelievable stay.

We stayed here 3 nights. There's a restaurant on site open for breakfast and supper.We ate there twice for breakfast and once for supper.Rooms are nice with patio door to sit outside and overlooks the lake.You can go across the road to lake where they have a dock and gazebo to sit in. Collected beach glass,shells and stones there.

We stayed at this great motel overlooking the Bras d'or Lakes on Sunday night. We have had a great dinner there before but it was our first time staying. Our room was clean and comfy and we had the deck to ourselves overlooking the lake. The view from our bed of the lakes was private and spectacular. Best of all is the dining room with a fantastic view of the lake. The food was outstanding and the service was the best. What a friendly and helpful staff! Wish we had gotten the name of the university student who was our server for supper and breakfast. We want to tell management that she is a real asset and made our meals even more pleasant. We will be back.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds, working showers and AC is an easy 4 stars. This place goes over and above with a great view of the waterfront, and an awesome restaurant staff for breakfast. The restaurant was reasonably priced and everyone in our group enjoyed the meal. Highly recommend.

This is a very comfortable spot to stay enroute to the Cabot Trail. Each room overlooks the Bras D'or Lake. There is a restaurant onsite that makes very good food. We spent two nights so that we could experience the whole Cabot Trail. The owners are super friendly and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

Stayed here last weekend with two of my sisters and our elderly mother. Made the reservation months in advance to get ground floor rooms with as few stairs as possible as our mother has mobility issues. I was advised that we were upgraded at no charge to accommodate my request. We arrived around 6pm to check in. The lady who checked us in was a gem! We had a chat while she was processing the check in and found out she is the owner. While checking us in she noted that there would be buses arriving throughout the night due to the celtic colors festival taking place and moved us to the end of the motel where it would be quieter for us. We appreciated that a lot! So off we went to our rooms and unloaded the car and got our mother settled. Rooms were so clean and comfortable. We had a lovely view of the water too. We were going to go to Baddeck for supper but decided to just go to the restaurant on site and we were definitely not disappointed. Our waitress was great and the food was even better. So after supper we headed back to our rooms and after a short visit, we all decided to call it a day (we're all in our 50's, except for mom and like to sleep lol.) The next morning we went to the restaurant again for breakfast and again, we were not disappointed. Breakfast was great! We had a different waitress and she overheard me say that my husband (who wasn't with us ) had given me a few extra dollars and I was buying breakfast that morning as it was on him. She brought the bill and it said "thanks Jason" on it and we laughed so hard at that. We are planning on returning in October next year to walk some of the trails and we unanimously decided we want to stay here again. One of my sisters is the manager of a very popular Inn and I work as a front desk agent at the same place. We know good service and we got it in spades at the Cabot Trail motel!

A wonderful stay! Everything is clean & well-maintained. Sores & windows open, close & lock. Fans blow, lights light, hot water is hot. And rock-solid Internet, too. But topping all that, the staff is warm, friendly & helpful. This is how pay-to-stay should be done!
