Hotel de Montaulbain

Unquestionably the best lodging in Verdun. This is largely due to the amazing hospitality of the hotel proprietors, Victor and Fabrice. Their professionalism and service was second to none. If you are unable to reserve online, highly recommend calling via phone or sending an email to inquire as sometimes there could be a room available due to last minute cancellation. From the moment of arrival, Fabrice and Victor were excellent. Located in the center of town, this is the perfect hotel for visiting town and/or making a pilgrimage to visit the sacred sites of Verdun. Easy short walk to restaurants, shops, sites, and parking. For recommendations for restaurants, sites, etc., do not hesitate to ask Fabrice and Victor. They shared info on sites off the beaten path that you would otherwise overlook or not know to seek out. Outstanding information was provided. Breakfast was the prefect start to the day as well. Hotel was safe and secure, and the room was very cozy and nice. Fabrice has worked in hospitality for years and it shows. He even shared the amazing story of his family ties to this region. Victor was great as well and shared some great insights on Corsica, with his familial ties to that region, including sights and locations to see and visit there. Overall, a five star stay thanks to Fabrice and Victor. If coming to Verdun, this is the best place to stay.

Hotel de Montaulbain in Verdun is wonderful! The proprietors are very welcoming and helpful, pretty fluent in English, and gave us great recommendations for restaurants. It is walking distance to shopping and restaurants, has comfortable beds and rooms, and a delicious continental breakfast. No lift, but lots of help with bags!

Had an awesome time! The hotel was very clean and updated. The family that owns this hotel was so very nice to me. Their recommendations were spot on! They helped me prioritize my visit to the battlefield which was extremely helpful. They made me feel very comfortable and safe. Since I was a solo middle aged (not old!😂) traveler that meant a lot to me. I highly recommend this place!

What a lovely hotel! Great service, clean, comfortable, and helpful hosts! We loved it and would definitely go back. They were so kind and accommodating to our big family! They let us store our luggage after checking out while we did a tour of the area.

The two best details about Hotel Montaulbein are the owners with their natural warm hospitality, and the rich and french breakfast that they personally serve with a lot of care for your wishes and tastes. The hotel is in a side street and has been a municipal building centuries ago. That sounds grander than it is, the building is a row house and has the typical french look and feel. The rooms are modern and comfortable without any glitter, and the hotel is quiet.

Incredibly warm and welcoming hosts, helpful for general questions and for best places to visit while in the region. Excellent breakfast, clean rooms, quaint street setting in historical center of Verdun. Highly recommend!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in early April, 2023. Viktor and Fabrice are your hosts, and they could not have been any more helpful! Both were incredible! Our room was on the 3rd floor (actually the 4th level) and other than the climb up and down the steep steps, was just fine. Hot water, comfy beds, and very quiet. The hotel is in a great locale, a short walk to just about everything in town. We will stay here again when we return to Verdun!
