We had an Amazing experience at the Holiday Inn Express, Umhlanga. This has to be one of the best service I've experienced (local and international included). Wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this Establishment. Check in was awesome. Brendan and team were extremely Welcoming, Friendly and Efficient. We were settled into the room in no time as well as informed of all the amenities. We traveled as a group and the team helped us to get rooms close to each other which was so convenient. Breakfast was scrumptious and the service exceeded our expectations. Trisha and the team take their work and service to customers so seriously - like it's their own company. My son wanted Chocolate muffins and they baked it specially for him - how amazing is that! We were leaving early to the airport and Trisha offered to have breakfast ready from 5am - was so impressed and grateful. This has to be one of the best hotels across the world. Kudos to the team and leadership. Highly recommend anyone to not hesitate to book here. Thanks so much guys

The hotel is in a great location and the staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't particularly like the restaurant/ room service menu as it ONLY had milkshakes on their drinks menu. You have to inquire about other drinks like wine, juices, coffee etc. It would be nicer if all the drinks prices were listed. The kettle in my room was dirty but housekeeping and the front desk were apologetic and replaced it with a clean kettle quickly. Every cafe or restaurant around the hotel opens at 9a.m, so I recommend paying for the hotel breakfast buffet if you're an early bird like me. I learnt about loadshedding after coming back from a day out and finding no power except a light and the tv in my room. For foreign guests who don't know about it, it might be a nice touch if the hotel could place the loadshedding schedule in guest rooms so it doesn't come as an unwelcome surprise. The bed was comfy and the wifi was usually fast. Overall, I had a good stay at the hotel.

Very nice property and service. Let down bady by outdated and poor room quality. Stayed in room 106. Basin wouldn't drain , meaning you brush your teeth and rinse ...and it stays there . Shower is in the bath , so a bathroom/shower combo, no separate shower. Problem is that the bathtub is soft, narrow and of poor quality . The taps are two separate hot and cold taps which are in front of the bath and at the bottom. You have to bend to adjust while the shower overhead is showering you at once. Can't understand who would approve such a catastrophic setup.

We went for lunch on the verandah without a booking. On arrival, there were plenty empty tables, a few with reserved signs but at 1.35 pm , mostly empty. Our request to lunch on the verandah was very strongly refused and the reason given was that there were bookings but that the guests had a 3 hour window to arrive or not as they chose. The tables would be empty advised Hazel. Dejectedly we went inside a rather cold room with no people and no view. Enter Justin, a dashing smiling hero who on hearing our rejected request for an outside table, performed a miracle and we were escorted to a front row table with an amazing view of the lighthouses coast. Justin was everything you expect from a F and B manager in a 5 star hotel. Courteous, charming, attentive but not overwhelming, Justin ensured that we felt very special and he made my lunch with close friends an exceptional memory. The food was great as well. Justin would be a great asset here in Singapore and he has my very grateful thanks. If you go to the Oyster Box in Umhlanga Rocks for a meal, ask for Justin

The hotel facilities are relatively new, the room is big enough, and the breakfast is okay. Below is the bar street, which is convenient for eating and drinking. There is also a SPAR supermarket and shopping mall opposite, which is convenient for shopping. Those who like to exercise can walk another 200 meters to the beach for running and exercising.

Hilton is great staff are very helpful and do there job with a smile. Rooms are decent and views aren't so bad. Very close to malls and food places. Stayed a few times during ramadaan and found the hotel caters for muslim guests that are fasting which is great not forgetting the hotel is muslim friendly which means you can have some of the meat products without having to worry if it's halal or not. Will definitely return

well! The best hotel in the class, the neighborhood is very safe, fast food, Chinese and Western food are available, the beach is very beautiful, but a bit expensive, but it is worth it, five-star worth experiencing

By the best of good fortune I found Anchor's Rest for a weekend visit to the Durban area. It was he most pleasant surprise to find this beautiful house, to get to stay in the exquisite Garden Room and enjoy the hospitality and friendliness of Peter and Cilla and their lovely staff. The whole ambience was terrific, the room was very comfortable and beautifully presented and the breakfast was a great start to the day. And they were so helpful with helping arrange transport and make the best of our stay. In summary, if you looking for somewhere to stay in Umhlanga, look no further, treat yourself and book with Cilla & Peter.

What an elegant hotel. Beautiful spacious rooms, the staff is attentive and friendly. There’s a lot of restaurants around the hotel to choose from, the ocean is within a walking distance. I’ll definitely stay here next time I’m in Durban!
