I had an early morning meeting in Twickenham and booked a 1 night stay (a Sunday evening) at the Travelodge. I was driving and knew that the hotel did not have its own car park, but recommended the nearby Arragon Road multi-story, which is a 3 minute stroll away. I entered the car park postcode into my satnav and arrived at a 3-storey car-park tucked away in a residential street behind the local Waitrose. On leaving the car park, turn left, walk up Arragon Road for 150 yards and then cross over towards the hotel's adjoining office building (Regal House). Walk past the entrance barriers into Regal House's open-air carpark and you'll see the rear of the hotel at the far corner of the car park, with an automatic door into the property. Enter at that basement level and take the lift to floor 1 to find reception. Alternatively, if arriving by train, the hotel is right next to the railway station, with main entrance on London Road. I had pre-booked one of the new Super Rooms for just £39.99 for the night on Travelodge's own website on a room-only non-refundable basis (basic rooms that night were £36.99). I was efficiently checked in, and allocated room 903. I look the lift to the ninth floor and quickly found my room. Super Rooms have the same dimensions as basic rooms, but have an attractive colour palate of greys, matching grey fabric black-out curtains, an armchair, iron, ironing-board, hair-dryer and Lavazza Coffee maker (with hot chocolate, tea, UHT milk, coffee, 2 coffee cups and 2 kit kat biscuits). The room had a very comfortable double bed and a choice of either firm or soft pillows. There were 3 good size towels in the small, but functional shower room, which had pump dispensers for shower gel and handwash. The room had a small flat-screen TV with a range of terrestrial channels, electric radiator, hanging wardrobe, desk with desk-lamp and swivel desk chair. In terms of lighting, in addition to the desk lamp, the room had a half-dozen or so ceiling mounted spotlights (with a bedside dimmer switch), two bedside reading lamps above two bedside shelves and also a headboard uplighter. Both at the beside and at the desk there were regular 3-point electric plugs and USB charging points. I did not eat at the hotel, but it offers pizzas, chicken wings and similar light-bites in the small bar / dining area next to reception and there is a snack vending machine in the lobby. At night the adjoining railway line and aircraft on approach to nearby Heathrow airport present some minor disturbance, but not so much to interfere with a good night's sleep. Housekeeping throughout was immaculate and everything spotlessly clean. It's been 20 years or so since I last stayed at a Travelodge and I must say that I was very impressed with their new Super Rooms. Everything you could possibly need for a comfortable night's stay at an incredibly low price in a London suburb. Well done to the Hotel's team !
