Trump Turnberry

Firstly it pains me to leave this review as I greatly admire the owner of this hotel but I don’t think he knows how it’s run. Mr trump is a remarkable man this hotel is not. It’s greatly overpriced for a mediocre hotel we booked a room through the vio site £620 for a deluxe room we arrived and were given our room I must point out the valet was a lovely chap very accommodating did not get he’s name. We checked in all good given room number they said our bag would follow. We went in to room it was small and well used with a view of another building ten feet away and as we sat waiting for luggage which never arrived we noticed that the complimentary fruit was rotten looked two weeks old and room was rough so we went down after 30-40 minutes to complain still no luggage. They said the fruit left on side was disgusting and apologised and bumped our room up to a balcony room which should cost £1100 believe me not worth it but we tried to enjoy. I’ve stopped in other hotels with much better rooms for circa £300 but were there now got washed went down stairs booked food in the restaurant 1904 for 7.30 pm so while we were waiting we ordered two drinks at bar vodka lemonade and a house wine cheap wine cost £39 pounds for these then into restaurant I have never had worse over priced food I’m my life we sent one dish back uneaten still tried to charge us for it rubber off scallops when your next to the sea unbelievable then a starter one voul a vont cheap freezer type £24 it’s a joke but we went up and retired ensured breakfast would be good omg what can I say it was unbelievable bad cheap over cooked eggs I can not express what a bad breakfast this was on the hole I’ve stopped in better Hilton’s bad service bad food mediocre overpriced rooms unfortunately I would never stop there again a sleep in would be better

Beautiful hotel with amazing views of the sea and Ailsa Craig. We visited for a spa day with afternoon tea. A mix up at the beginning with our treatment times didn’t set things off to a good start however this was quickly rectified by staff. The spa was lovely and I had the best massage by Julie-Ann. The little sorbet and drinks after our treatments were a lovely touch and very refreshing. Unfortunately the afternoon tea did let things down a bit as the bread for the sandwiches was quite hard. My daughter had also requested no butter on hers however this was still present on her rolls. I also felt that there wasn’t very much food for the price of the afternoon tea (my vegetarian stand had 4 little sandwiches, a tiny vol-au-vent, 2 small cakes on one layer and 2 small cakes on the top). Whilst adequate, it didn’t warrant £50. There did appear to be slightly more with the regular afternoon tea with the addition of 2 small rolls. Our afternoon tea was booked quite late in the afternoon and due to the time of year the dining area was really busy and loud with what seemed to be Xmas nights out. That didn’t really set the right ambience for a family afternoon tea but likely at other times of year would be fine. I would 100% recommend the spa but if returning would avoid the afternoon tea.

This is our 4th visit to Turnberry over the years.It is always a real treat to stay there. The rooms are beautiful with stunning bathrooms. We were lucky this time to get a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite as the hotel was quiet. Ate in Duel in the Sun on the first night and in the 1906 on the second night both meals were lovely and service was good .Breakfasts were spot on although we personally preferred when the hot buffet was an option rather than ordering from a menu.The Grand Tea Bar is a lovely spot to relax and enjoy a drink .The Spa is also worth a visit. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.The atmosphere is"posh"but not stuffy. We aren't golfers but it must be an amazing place to be if you are a keen golfer. Worth a walk out to the lighthouse too although closed in the winter.Can't wait for our next visit !

Had a good deal in November . Hotel accommodation is great and very luxurious. Lovely spacious room ,last time we stayed in suite , this time it was upgraded normal delux room , nearly same in accommodation. All luxury one can think of is If you want to take empty bottle of complimentary water bottle , it is £15 . Drinks are very expensive. Dinner was ordinary , expensive . They asked us to give a badge to employee we think, did the best , made us guest of the day .

Excellent 3 night stay with the family to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Even though none of us play golf, loads to do, great food, amazing accommodation & facilities and wonderful staff. Whilst there were a small number of minor issues, all were dealt with very pleasantly. Highlights - our (horse-mad) daughter loved her time at the equestrian centre & beach ride on Sox; our son by contrast loved the clay-pigeon shooting. Whilst the weather was kind, we would love to return in the spring or summer.

A horrible smell permeated around the hotel and there were stains on the bedding. For the money I paid I'd expect a 5 star experience, but what I got was 1 star - and that's being generous. Advise anyone thinking of staying there to think again. The local Travelodge is better
