Tabo Cottages

Great place without reliable Wi-Fi, good rooms and good breakfast, helpful staff, but music is loud and I don’t want to hear nirvana at 8:30 at night. But to each their own.. still can NOT rely on their wifi. That was my main issue… location is good, ferry drops u off right there.

Overall a nice place. Good breakfast, very nice rooms with fun shower. Wonderful grounds on the lake with water activities. Courteous friendly staff. Music in the evening that can be rather loud in the rooms. But internet is quite inconsistent. You can’t rely on it.

Second time at Tabo, this time with my mum. She can't stop raving about this place. We stayed at a Deluxe Room which was spacious and bright. Huge bathroom. The staff is super friendly and always helpfull. Breakfast buffet is amazing and the food in the restaurant as well. The whole property is well maintained and beautifully designed. I love all the small huts where you can sit. The pool is a bonus and the view is just awesome. Highly recommended.

We had three nights in Tabo Cottages and had an amazing time. The room we were given was more like an apartment - really massive with plenty of space including a fridge, balcony, shower room and bathroom. The bed was large and comfy. The hotel ground are beautiful with trees and flowers and a well kept lawn and there is a lovely shore-side pool and hut to relax in and watch the sunset. The restaurant serves up a tasty and varied breakfast along with a good selection of a la carte dishes for dinner featuring a mixture of western cuisine as well as local indonesian food. The hotel also puts on entertainment and when we arrived we were greeted with a local batak dance and in the evening they had an excellent live band. The hotel operates a number of tours and on one of our days we did the culinary and cooking tour with Eric which was excellent. We visited the local market and bought the spices and ingredients needed and then visited a local, traditional homestead and helped prepare a traditional meal of steamed fish with sambal, vegetables and rice. Highly recommend this tour; I'm sure the other tours are also very good.

We spent two nights at this hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a small veranda. The staff were friendly. The food was good and the grounds were attractive. A lovely swimming pool. Being a Saturday we were entertained with Batak dancing on the lawn.

A taste of the good life after travelling through Sumatra and trekking through the jungle. Wonderfully set in lush tropical gardens, the rooms are spacious and well appointed. All facilities are very good and the restaurant does fine food. Just outside there are many restaurants to choose from, all within a ten minute walk. Marco, the owners son is a very well educated, multilingual young man, and also a great guide for a day out in the hills and surrounding villages. I Highly recommended this hotel as a place to relax and recover.
