We chose the Lodge at Trout Creek as a restful retreat in the middle of a 3-month, 6,000 mile vacation and trip. It was all we thought it would be and more! We chose the Snowshoe Suite on the lower level which provided not only direct access to the outside patio, but also was on the same level as the guest kitchen and BBQ as well as the common area for dining and relaxing. The lower level also has a large screen TV/movie auditorium, a library of books available to guests, an internet area, a fitness area with guest laundry, an extra bathroom—and probably more than I remember. Although shared with the other guests, it makes the Snowshoe Suite almost like a large apartment, a perfect arrangement for someone on a cane as the only steps needed are up to the breakfast dining room and to the parking area. We did not, as other guests when we were there, engage in any of the multiple outdoor activities while there. Instead we enjoyed the bountiful and beautiful breakfasts made by Julie, the peace and quiet of days spent reading and doing puzzles, and evenings spent making our dinners in the guest kitchen. And, let me tell you about the kitchen which is better equipped than mine at home with all the necessities [refrigerator space, freezer space, stove with full oven, microwave] as well as all utensils needed for cooking. It was so easy (and a dollar saver) to have our dinners in and enjoy the company of the other guests. FYI the grocery in Trout Creek, while small, has everything needed to prepare meals, including a deli with sandwiches made to order. As wonderful as the spacious, clean, and beautiful log lodge is (a trip to the Eagles Rest is mandatory), what makes this place so very special are the hosts. Julie (and Randy when not guiding) are warm, gracious, and everything everyone else has said about them. For example, with my cane, I could get up the steps, but needed to use both hands getting down. Julie always seems to be Julie-on-the-spot each time to take the cane back down the steps for me—as was true each time we needed something—but then not in your face when it was down time. I don’t have more superlatives than other reviews have left. Just come and experience one of the best places to relax, explore what Montana has to offer (or enjoy the peace), and be pampered by hosts really care.
