Hotel Constantin

Not my best choice of hotels - by far. This hotel seems to have a good location, next to the Romer Brucke. But it is also on the crossing point of the very busy Johanniterufer and the Kaiserstrasse. Both roads are very busy, most of the day and night. The rooms have no airco, and my room had windows receiving direct afternoon sunshine, making the room extremely hot. To avoid this, you could open some windows.... that gets fresh air in, but also lots of street noise. The room is very basic, the bathroom had mould along several edges and the shower handle was quite loose. The hotel is not very well maintained. There are 2 terraces, but both are completely devoid of any nice furniture, and are overgrown with weeds. There is no staff most of the day. In fact, there is only a receptionist from 15:00-19:00, and all other hours you need to use a key fob to open the streetside front door to let yourself in. Ok, there is free parking.... and breakfast was ok. But I would never come here again....

The double room we stayed in was very sterile, flat tv announced, is barely the size of a computer screen. Shower tap was broken, half of the water comes to the other direction than expected. There is no working wifi. Neither drinkable water in the room. Staff can be seen in the morning by the breakfast where there is no selection available, guest could only know about extras like eggs by seeing them served to other guests, no menu card, no buffet. Very empty and sterile in bad way despite good chairs to sit in that breakfast room. Staff was more impolite than friendly.

Desk closes at 10 pm but they give you a key to get in so you can come and go as you please. Easy to find if you are driving. Parking is only 4 per day. Lower price due to no A/C and no coffee in the room. Comfortable beds and room is good. Doors don't auto lock so you need to lock your room as you leave -- won't lock key in room by accident. Reasonable price for what you get. Far enough from the tourist center to be quiet but close enough to enjoy all the sites.
