Livermead Cliff Hotel

The staff here are just awesome. Nothing is too much trouble. We attended a function and the food and service was excellent !! The view from our room was amazing ?? Great stay we will be back .. thank you to all that made our stay so memorable. Oh and super dog friendly. !

We had our wedding at the Livermead Cliff Hotel in mid August. My husband and I were amazed by the service and care given by Charles and his team. Nothing was too much and we were supported every way of the planning process. From beginning to end we had the best day ever, we never had to worry about anything and organisation on the day was A*. Everyone was raving about the amazing 3 course meal at the reception and the evening buffet! They even catered for our vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and celiac guests! In addition to this, the view is also an amazing backdrop for a wedding! We would recommend the venue to anyone for their wedding.

Superior Double Sea View Room for £ 179.- For this price and the name "Superior" you would expect something more special.... But far from it. The room is very old-fashioned and with carpet (unhygienic) on the floor. The interior is from around 1970. The bed is an imposition (soft, springs ridden out). The "Sea View", well..... The bar food was very good. Overall not recommended. You only cash in here and invest the minimum. Too bad.

This hotel is certainly not for everyone. However, if you want panoramic views of Torbay, superb traditional English cuisine served in an elegant restaurant, and courteous staff, then you might be in the right place. The tide laps right up to the garden walls, and there is a large sun terrace on which to relax. The hotel is a pleasant stroll away from Torquay harbour and pier, and has a large car park. Bedrooms are comfortable, many with spectacular sea views. However, I believe there is a programme of on-going refurbishment and their style will vary according each particular room. However, if you just cannot survive without a ‘state of the art’ bedroom from a glossy magazine, you may be at the wrong hotel! Without being stuffy, I feel this hotel tries to maintain certain values that seem to be disappearing . All staff are dressed smartly, and not as found in some hotels – wearing jeans, trainers, with men’s shirts hanging out. Laid back and casual is all very well, but there are limits! The Livermead Cliff probably appeals to a more mature clientele and it is unapologetically traditional – and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! However, having stayed in most of the decent hotels in Torquay, this is certainly the one that I would confidently return to time after time!

So outdated it looks like they’re stuck in the 1970’s! Even the mattress feels 20yrs old, good old spring coiled thing. Evening meal service was really poor, dark room ( which seems to be the hotel throughout ) Sat at 19:20 and meal wasn’t served til 20:10. Miles away from anywhere if you wanted to go for supplies or a drink at a reasonable price. Really not impressed

I often pop here for a drink after a walk but tonight wasn’t my night. I ordered three drinks, one of which was a tea. I offered to wait for the tea to be made as we were sat outside. I was served my two cold drinks and was left with no tea. The Barman just disappeared serving food instead whilst the barmaid left just kept serving the whole bar, staring over not helping me. 15 mins later the barman returns with no intention of making my tea & says you have to wait 15 minutes for a tea, or I can offer you a refund. I’ve stayed here a couple times and drank here many but won’t be returning. It’s shocking, poor service!
