Historic City of Toledo
生生长在海边的果果The ancient city on the way from Madrid to Cordoba by car, because time is only hurried to the cathedral, St. Martin Bridge, and the observation deck. This ancient city is still worth a day of shopping.
Cathedral of Toledo
生生长在海边的果果The most worthwhile attraction in the ancient city of Toledo, with a long history and beautiful architecture, is worth a visit. The ancient city of Toledo is also worth a visit, close to Madrid, and one day is enough
Estacion del Ferrocarril
旅旅の径Toledo Railway Station was built in 1858, and the current station building was built in 1919. It was listed as a Spanish national cultural relic in 1991 and became a high-speed railway station after restoration in 2005.
Located on the east side of the ancient city, the station has a construction area of nearly 13,000 square meters and a neo-Moorish architectural style; the dignified and towering bell tower imitates the style of the tower of the ancient city's cathedral; the multi-petal arches and staggered battlement decorations on the top are in line with the ancient city's reputation as a "place where three religious cultures converge."
A series of streamlined high-speed trains carry groups of tourists from Madrid 70 kilometers away... I am impressed by this true "century-long plan."
The Alcázar
旅旅の径The Alcázar Castle in Toledo is located at the highest point of the ancient city. It is a castle with a long history and a tragic fate.
In the third century, a Roman palace was built; in the tenth century, after Muslims conquered Toledo, they built this commanding height of the ancient city into a fortress; in the eleventh century, Christianity recaptured Toledo and built a castle here; during the reign of Carlos I in the sixteenth century, the castle was converted into a royal palace; after his successor Philip II moved the capital to Madrid, the castle lost its original important status and served as a prison, barracks, workshop and military academy.
During the Spanish Civil War, the castle was severely damaged in the war; after the war, in order to commend the soldiers guarding the castle, Franco ordered the castle to be rebuilt as it was, and it has been preserved to this day.
Today's castle is square, magnificent and majestic; the bottom floor of the castle has some ruins left as a memorial; the main body of the castle has become a military museum and library; the top floor of the castle has a 360° panoramic view of the beautiful scenery of the ancient city.
San Martin's Bridge
旅旅の径Located on the west side of the ancient city of Toledo, the San Martin Bridge is a medieval bridge across the Tagus River. Construction began in the 13th century and was completed in the late 14th century.
Two Gothic-style defense towers stand at the bridgehead. The five-arch stone bridge with one large arch and four small arches is similar to the Zhaozhou Bridge in my country.
Looking at the stone bridge, the mottled appearance tells the vicissitudes of history, the city emblem at the bridgehead shows the immortal glory, and the monastery in the distance blooms with a tall figure...
Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes
MMaryJoy Dela Cruz GonzalesThe cloisters and church are full of beautiful details, well worth a look. Wonderful old monastery. Although it is a bit far from the center of Toledo, it is worth visiting. The ticket was quite reasonable, only 3 euro per adult.
Puerta del Sol
SsculptorThe gate of the sun (Puerta del Sol) is a city gate in Toledo, Spain, built in the late 14th century. The memorial above the arch depicts the sainthood of Il de Fonsos, the Visigoth Gothic patron saint of Toledo. The name of the gate comes from the sun and moon that were painted on both sides of the medallion. The gate is named because it faces east, where there is always a sun rising. The gate is no longer there, but the entrance is there.
El Antiguo Convento De Santo Domingo
Ppxy0705The old Monastery of Santo Domingo in Toledo is a monastery with a long history. It has a history of more than 500 years. The whole monastery is white and looks very sacred. The two tall bell towers are its most obvious symbol. The monastery is very large and many pilgrims come here to pray. In the minds of Toledo people, this place is very sacred.
Mirador del Valle
旅旅の径To visit the ancient city of Toledo, before entering the city (or after leaving the city), you must check in the Valley Watchtower. The Valley Watchtower is located in the southern mountains outside the ancient city. Arrived on the observation deck to the north, the whole view of the ancient city is unobstructed: the towering cathedral and the square castle sit on the left and right, the clear Tahoe River flows around the city, and the different buildings are scaled...
Zocodover Square
旅旅の径The Plaza de Zucdebel in Toledo was formed during the Moorish rule (after 711 AD). Its name comes from the Moorish language, meaning livestock market.
During the Catholic rule (after 1065 AD), the square continued to play the role of the city center. It was a market on weekdays and a bullfighting ring during celebrations. It was also used as a place of execution during religious trials in the Middle Ages.
The square was destroyed by a fire in October 1589, and it remains after reconstruction.
The square is an irregular quadrilateral. The backs of the stone chairs in the square are inlaid with colored porcelain prints - illustrations from the novel "Don Quixote", which has a unique charm.
The buildings with arcades around the square are scattered in an orderly manner. There are restaurants and gift shops inside and outside the buildings, and you can eat and buy comfortably.
The most important place in the square is the "Arch of the Holy Blood" with a classic Moorish style. Outside the arch stands a bronze statue of Cervantes; Don Quixote rode a skinny horse and started his adventure through this arch.
Tips: Sukdebel Square is the public transportation hub of the ancient city and is conveniently located to major attractions, making it a major gathering place for tourists.
