Warm room, good location. Good choice for travellers back from Islay on late night ferry.

Stayed over before catching the Islay ferry and it’s very convenient for that. The rooms are very basic with dated furniture and quite worn and tired feeling throughout the whole hotel. With some paint and a bit of care it could be a nice destination but I reckon it’s got a captive market due to location so doesn’t need to do any upkeep. WiFi did not reach our room (no 9) and there should be repeaters around the place. Our duvet cover was freshly laundered but had stains, the bathroom radiator is badly rusty one of the plugs in room 3 wasn’t working, just to name a few shortcomings. The staff were lovely and breakfast was good.

Harbour view , brilliant weather meant brilliant view, room ideal size , clean throughout, bathroom excellent with a powerful shower, some tweaks would help lift the room accommodation, a handle inside the room on the wall to help those not so steady on their feet would give confident support, the shower head not the correct fittng for the adjustable mount. Electric connections for mobiles etc beside bed required could be USB for charging as current position is on opposite wall. Talking to the new owner on arrival I understand he has plans for improving the small improvements. Overall we give an excellent as our stay was made excellent with good customer service a clean room and good food.

Tarbert is sleepy on a Thursday night so we went to the Anchor for a meal. Best decision ever! Staff were lovely, wine list was fab, but the food - amazing!! Mussels were the best ever and the scallops not far behind. The smoked haddock risotto was delicious. If you get a chance , try here - you won't be disappointed!!

This is a nice hotel in the perfect location for Tarbert, on the harbour. The room was comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. Even if you do not stay in the hotel, try the restaurant as the food was excellent.

We stayed for one night what a lovely hotel. From check-in until we left the staff were exceptional. We had a room with a view of the harbour which was nice. Room had everything you need. We booked for dinner and were not disappointed. Cullen skink and mussels to start then smoked haddock and mussels for a main followed by lemon meringue pie. It was all beautiful and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was really nice with plenty of choice. We visit Tarbert regularly and will definitely return.

Had to change our arrival time and departure time due to a teenager forgetting to tell us about exams… Ross the owner was more than accommodating and took our last minute changes with good grace and humour. The staff were friendly and efficient and made us feel at home. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty of choice. We’d definitely recommend the Anchor for a stay; relaxed atmosphere, great customer service and a great menu

We arrived after 8pm by the time we checked in and made our way down to the dining room it was 8:25pm - last orders for the kitchen are 8:30pm - we were served! Dinner was good and exceptionally good value. There was a snag with the heating in our room and bathroom. The receptionist gave us an electric heater for the bedroom- worked well although the bathroom was still cold. Breakfast was fine. The hotel was renovated some years ago and would benefit from a refresh - tough of independent operators with rising costs - comfortable- great night’s sleep - very good service - would happily recommend and stay again
