The service we received at The Highlands at Sugar was outstanding, very accommodating and friendly personnel. The condo was clean, wonderful king size bed, furnished with every item we needed, to include coffee, dish detergent, laundry detergent. The location was the ultimate! We spend each day visiting nearby mountain towns, ate at some wonderful restrauants. One of the things we especially liked was sighting of deer in the driveway, within feet of our condo, five bucks together at one time! While it is minor, we would have liked a TV directory and maybe some coffee filters. We had wondered about the teflon frying pans but the two there looked to be new. I was impressed!

My recollection of this place from 25 years ago was that it was one of my favorite RCI locations. The unit this time was showing its age, with some windows and doors requiring maintenance. The carpet desperately needs to be replaced as well, but the cooler climate, the incredible views from the back deck, and the wildlife viewing made it a most enjoyable week.

The report is rather old and run down. While furniture, cabinets and counters have been upgraded, the appliances, wood trim paint, doors, heater and flooring need to be upgraded. For example: The kitchen floor chipped and cracked, the heater fan made a terrible loud noise and had to be turned off by maintenance, the microwave rusted and cracked, the refrigerator propped up on a block of wood on one side, and the wood doors to the bathroom chipped and look gouged. The resort staff, John and Holly, did their best to take care of the heater fan noise and when asked to find a DVD player for me. Also replaced the coffee maker that didn't work properly. Resort owner really needs to get this resort upgraded or I think they will not stay in business very much longer. I, for one will not return.

This trip was amazing! The resort had beautiful views and the 2 bedroom cabin was spacious. I'd definitely recommend this trip to family and friends. If you are looking to ski, ice skate, or go snow tubing, this is the place for you.

Do not trust in this company. They canceled my reservation 5 days before my trip in the peak season during Christmas. I made the reservation 4 months in advance directly in their website for "guarantee and peace of mind" as they stand. Nothing is true. I had to immediately start to look for another reservation and the only less expensive option I found it was in Beech Mountain and had to pay triple what I supposed to pay. After reserve in that new place with no cancelation option unless with a Fee, someone from Highlands at Sugar sent me an email that my reservation was restore and sorry for the inconvenience. No one makes responsible for the other reservation I have to do. I sent emails and made calls to try to recover the cancellation fee I had to pay and no one answer back. No more reservations Highlands at Sugar from my side in the future. Be careful!!!

Beautiful views from the top of Surgar Mountain Road! Our one bedroon unit was clean and the furniture was comfortable.This was a work vacaation and were most fortuante to sqeeze in some great skiing at Sugar Mountain. We will be back!

Everything about Highlands at Sugar was special. Our two bedroom unit had king beds in each bedroom. Staff was helpful and friendly.The views were breathtaking and the game room, club area are really well appointed and fun to use.

Managing needs to speed up renovations! They’re sitting on a gold mine with the location and view but the age and dated furnishings keeps Highlands from living up to full potential. We wouldn't go back or recommend until some updates are made.

Our room was perfect for us (2 adults) even staying in all day for a couple of rain days. bathroom and kitchen were updated. The community area (where check in is) was really nice although we barely used it. The staff response for questions and help was terrific. The unit was clean and well stocked. Internet and WIFI connection was very good. Location was way up in the mountain but close to groceries and restaurants.
