We stayed in the summer with a group of friends in the Carriage House Grand Suite and it was perfect for us. There was enough room to have our own quiet spaces to retreat to also and socialize in the common area, which had seating, a TV and small kitchenette. The Positives: The Suite: Bedrooms, bathrooms had a luxury hotel feel with comfy beds, ample and good-quality toiletries, towels, bathrobes, etc. Good air conditioning. Lovely views. Nice vibe overall -- historic property updated with modern amenities. Quaint eating area, parlour, bar etc. Nice staff: Overall staff were friendly and helpful. Some reviewers complained that they were inexperienced -- when we were there, some of the staff seemed to be local college students and, yes, some were not polished in a way that chain hotel workers might be, but they were polite and more than eager to help. Breakfast: Fresh and tasty. The So-Sos: The grounds could have been better maintained and seemed a bit neglected. Some flowers in urns and window boxes could have gone far to raise the look to a higher level. The pool looked lovely in the photos but when we got there it looked tired. We had a good time there, and enjoyed our stay -- but it was quite expensive, especially given that the pool had been a major draw given that it was a hot summer, but was not as nice as we had expected. However, it does seem like one of the nicest properties in the areas.
