"Disappointing Stay for a Special Occasion – Expected More from a 5-Star Hotel
Stayed 4 nights with my daughter for her surprise birthday staycation. Upgraded to a Harbour Bridge View room on Level 23 ($715/night), but the view was mostly of a vacant construction site – very underwhelming for the price. Noisy interconnecting room and loud sports cars between 12–2am made it hard to sleep. Breakfast ($65pp) was below expectations – dried sausages and barely cooked bacon, though staff were lovely. Room service on our last night took nearly an hour – ordered at 7:38pm, food arrived at 8:30pm. As a solo mum, this was a trip we had saved up for a long time and wanted it to be truly special, but we were left feeling disappointed. Expected more from a 5-star hotel.
The positive highlights of our stay was the lovely big bath and high-quality shower amenities, which added a touch of luxury. Fantastic location and beautiful walk along the waterfront!!
For the price we paid, the view fell far short of what you'd expect from a luxury hotel. In hindsight, the lower rate Deluxe King Room overlooking the water would have been a much better choice!

"Em termos de cenário e comodidades, este hotel é perfeito. Reservei um quarto em um andar alto com vista para o porto para poder assistir aos fogos de artifício enquanto saboreio champanhe no meu próprio quarto. Foi uma experiência de primeira. No entanto, a limpeza deixa muito a desejar. A janela grande tem manchas visíveis que afetam bastante a vista. O vaso sanitário é tão mal projetado que a tampa nunca fica em pé. Moscas estão por todo o banheiro, o que é um absurdo!"

"We booked W sydney months in advance with breakfast included and is worth it . Food choices are plenty during breakfast and can order different eggs style and cooking preparation during breakfast and can order different hot or cooled selection of drinks as well. Hotel is clean and location is near china town ,paddys market , and harbour easily accessible to townhall in a walkable distance of 7-10 mins away. There is a fireworks show on saturday night that lasted 5-7minutes.. There are lots of restaurants around the area and ice cream shops as well . There is even a park at the back of the hotel and a playground for kids. I highly recommend this hotel. There is 2 pool in the hotel at 22nd floor and 29th floor . The hotel is beside Imax cinema ."

"O serviço foi bom e atencioso. Chegamos cedo e a recepção se ofereceu para me enviar um WhatsApp assim que meu quarto estivesse pronto e minhas malas já estivessem no quarto, esperando. A localização é perto da Circular Quey e a uma curta caminhada da ópera. A equipe faz você se sentir muito bem-vindo. Acho que me cobraram AUD$ 20 por um balde de gelo que eu pedi, pois o refrigerador do frigobar não estava frio o suficiente para gelar minhas bebidas. Só vi isso no meu cartão de crédito depois do check-out, o que foi inesperado, mas, bem, não posso me dar ao trabalho de contestar, pois foi uma estadia agradável de qualquer maneira."

AAnonymous UserThey say Australian hotels have bad service, and I experienced this first-hand. Even at a 5-star hotel, the mini-bar was constantly forgotten during daily cleanings in both rooms I booked, which were on different floors.
Also, during breakfast, genuinely friendly staff were few and far between. Out of all the days I stayed, only two female staff members greeted guests with a smile. On April 5th, the front desk was manned by a male attendant in a brown suit, with a brush cut and a beard. My parents arrived before me, so he gave them three English menus. When I arrived, I asked him for a Chinese menu. He said 'okay,' but I waited for a very long time, and he never brought it. During this time, I asked two other staff members about it. I told them I needed a Chinese menu, and they both said 'okay,' but none of them brought it to me. I waited for a very, very long time! I couldn't wait any longer, so I took an English menu myself and went to the front desk to exchange it. As I walked towards the front desk, the same male attendant with the brush cut and beard also walked over. I then told the female attendant at the front desk that I needed a Chinese menu. The male attendant then came over and *actually said* he was also looking for a Chinese menu 🙄. In reality, menus in various languages are usually available at the front desk. And normally, when they check guests in, they ask what language they prefer and provide the appropriate menu. The staff on duty that day hadn't placed Chinese menus on the counter and then delayed providing them when guests asked. I don't want to bring up 'discrimination against Chinese people,' but the attitude of prioritizing foreign guests while neglecting Chinese guests is unacceptable. I will absolutely never choose Capella again!

DDexxxxI had a wonderful stay at this hotel during my visit to Sydney. The room was very clean and well-maintained, making it a comfortable and pleasant experience. The location is excellent, just outside Wynyard Station, which made getting around the city super convenient. It’s also within 10–20 minutes walking distance to many popular areas like the Sydney shopping district, Darling Harbour, Barangaroo, The Rocks, and more.
What really stood out to me was the modern high-tech features throughout the hotel. The lift system is not the usual kind, you scan your access card outside, and it automatically assigns you a lift to your room’s floor or the amenities level. There are no buttons inside the lift, which felt very secure and futuristic.
Inside the room, both the bedroom and bathroom have built-in speakers, so I could enjoy my favourite songs throughout the space, such a great touch! They even provide an iPad in the room that lets you contact reception, access useful hotel info, and even browse suggested playlists if you don’t have one of your own. I really appreciated the attention to detail.
Another highlight was the variety of pillows available. I chose the contour pillow and slept incredibly well.
One thing to note: toothbrushes are not provided for free, there’s an extra charge if you need one. But it’s not a big deal for me since I always bring my own. Just a heads-up if you’re planning to stay here , remember to pack your toothbrush!
The only small downside was the bathroom design, although there’s a glass door, some water did spill out after showering. But this was minor and didn’t affect my overall impression.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a clean, modern, and tech-savvy place to stay in Sydney!

- Location is perfect, 5min away from Circular Quay, 10min walk from the shopping area of Pitt street. Right in the city center.
- Staff is nice, giving small gift to our kid. Breakfast is also quite good.
- We were able to do an early check-in at 10am without surcharge, which was very nice after an overnight flight.
Now for the negatives:
- Room is small and basic for a 5 star hotel, shower room is very simple, you'd expect more for a premium brand like Mariott at a price of 500 AUD for a night.
- The harbor bridge view room is absolutely not worth it: you need to be at your window and looking on the right to see it. Completely useless. The real view is currently a construction site. Very disappointing.
- Cleaning is not done properly: there were still some crumbs on the floor after the room was cleaned, and worth, there were 3 pairs for previous guests slippers under the bed!
To conclude, it's not worth it. Next time I'll probably stay again at the Shangri-La for a similar pricing.

UUsuário convidadoIn short, Pullman Hyde Park Sydney is a great hotel with a gym and pool that offer good views. The rooms are clean, and the location is perfect for accessing all the famous tourist spots.
We stayed for 5 nights at Pullman Hyde Park Sydney in mid-May. We arrived at the hotel around 10 AM, which was earlier than the scheduled check-in time. We requested an early check-in at the concierge; however, we were informed that no rooms were available until 1 PM. This was understandable, given our early arrival.
While waiting, we appreciated the water dispenser and snacks available for guests. One downside was that the hotel had only three lifts, which were insufficient for the number of guests. One lift even broke down, and the other two were quite slow.
We booked a Superior King Room with a Hyde Park view, which was lovely. The room was clean, with no odors or stains. However, our first room was missing disposable slippers and had a broken phone. The staff quickly sent a technician and arranged for us to move to a higher floor with a functioning phone. They were responsive, but we had to move our luggage ourselves, as they were unable to assist with that. (It was around 6pm so they may be short-staffed at that moment.)
We spent some time at the gym, but unfortunately, the drinking water ran out around 6 PM. We called the concierge to have it replenished, but no one arrived by the time we left. The pool was decent, and there was also a jacuzzi. However, the jacuzzi was located right next to the gym and in front of the glass entrance, so anyone coming out of the elevator could see you enjoying it, which may or may not be a concern for some guests. A highlight was running on the treadmill while enjoying the stunning sunset over the city skyline—it was spectacular.
The location was fantastic! The major bus stops were just a 6-minute walk away, providing easy access to Bondi Beach, Central Station, and Darling Harbour .etc. It was also only a 15-20 minute walk to the harbour, which made exploring the area very convenient.
Overall, while I believe there are cheaper options with similar location advantages, the cleanliness at Pullman Hyde Park was notably better than those alternatives.

UUsuário convidadoThe hotel ticks a lot of boxes, clean modern rooms, pool and steam room, and in the best location, very central over looking the beach. The hotel has just had a refurbishment, very tidy with a good bar and restaurant on the ground floor. Only slight negative, front dest - check in could be better and a bit more friendly.
If you want to stay in Manly, this hotel is your best choice, the other main hotel is way down at the end of the beach.

UUsuário anônimoVery nice view from our room widows. There are full of different types restaurants on the ground floor. But If you close the window, the sound proof is excellent which I typically want to recommend.
Stuffs are friendly and helpful, willing to give you recommendations if you are first-time visitors. They even wrote a welcome card.
They have a ballroom here just opposite the reception, holding different personal events every night. I like the vibe which means it's popular place and safe.
The hotel is friendly to those who travel with dogs. They have special bed and food for dogs. But we didn't need it and the dog net door barked very early in the morning. We were OK with it.
At the other aspect, the hotel goes too much.
The breakfast is allllll for vegetarians.

As a guest, you are left with no choice.
This is the only point that I particularly hate. Be whatever you like, just don't push others to do the something, especially when you are running a business.
