Black Horse Beamish

We found the Black Horse after searching for somewhere to park overnight and were so lucky to find it. It was Father’s Day and very busy but they managed to fit us in. The staff were so friendly, the food absolutely delicious and no charge for overnight parking.

We had our wedding here on 1st June 2024 and I can’t even put into words how amazing it was! Anne and her team were absolute dreams and amazing at what they do! We honest cannot thank them enough! Nothing was too much and we were well looked after!

My family visited us from Lincolnshire and I booked 6 of us a table at The Black Horse at Beamish We arrived on time and a waitress took our order for drinks, shortly afterwards we ordered our food only to be told the fish pie was off so we decided to choose something else 10 minutes later something else we had ordered was off so we had to think again. This went on until only 2 of us could actually have what we wanted and that was the curry !!!!!!!! By this time it was getting past a joke and 45mins had gone by ,so I asked to speak to the manager who apologised sincerely and asked would we like to accept a round of drinks and free desserts on the house We said we would thank you and offshe went . We waited and waited, still no sign of any drinks or food We went in at 6.30pm and by now it was 8 pm We had had enough by then and decided to leave .I felt extremely disappointed and embarrassed for my family and would never go there again.

My daughter and son in law were married at the Black Horse last week. The venue was amazing with fantastic views and the accommodation was first class. We had food in the restaurant the night before and it was lovely. The Wedding day went smoothly and I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone, especially Anne and Georgiana for ensuring my daughter and son in law had the most amazing day for their wedding. I can't wait to come back 🙂

My wife and I have just returned from an overnight stay in the Black Horse, Beamish, to attend our lovely grandaughter’s wedding. The venue for the wedding was excellent, everything went well and the organisation was first class. The food was very good throughout the wedding day and the staff were all professional and friendly. Our overnight accommodation was expensive but first class, no problems with the room and the breakfast was very tasty. Thank you, a spectacular event to remember.

A lovely place to stay , rooms are beautiful and staff very helpful. Attended a wedding there and had a great day .Meals in the restaurant were very good and brilliant value for money all round. Set in a lovely location .

We arrived at the Black Horse December 2023 for the Sunday stay package in Cherry room. Greeted in the bar to the smell of a real coal fire and the sound of laughter we felt at home straight away. The bar staff are fast and very friendly too nothing is too much trouble. Heading to check in we were greeted with a big smile and shown to our room which was amazing ! The staff member who showed us our room was brilliant she made us feel welcome and showed us where everything was in the room. Every detail of the room was perfect from the 4 poster bed to the huge bath big enough for two. The room was clean and well cared for with everything we could need from coffee and tea facilities to a hair dryer and iron should we need them. We headed to the restaurant for Sunday dinner, greeted by more happy staff who were very attentive and chatty, service was fast and staff were happy to help. The Sunday lunch that followed was AMAZING ! I’m still telling people about it 3 days later ! I have never tasted mashed potato that good in my life ! The meat was perfect, my husband had the trio of meats which also included a slice of black pudding which he felt complimented the meal perfectly. Every mouthful was amazing ! As we left the restaurant we met the chef responsible for the beautiful meal who staff shared has recently joined the team and is a past Masterchef the professionals semi finalist. He’s certainly doing a good job ! All the staff were brilliant and they make an amazing team. I would recommend the Black Horse Beamish to anyone from beginning to end it was a wonderful stay and I’m already planning to go back soon.

Just got married here and all we can say it WOW. The new wedding team in place at the Blackhorse are the most amazing, kind, caring, thoughtful, helpful, accommodating people we've had the pleasure of meeting and dealing with. Our start to the wedding journey wasn't the best and the lack of communication was insulting. We had 5 weeks to go and still had no contact at all. Then we met the amazing Donna !! From the first initial hello I knew our wedding was going to be handled with care and affection from Donna and her new wedding team. She instantly made me feel at ease and assured me she would personally handle our wedding and make it as magical as possible for us. The communication from Donna and her staff leading up to our big day was perfect and nothing was a bother to them. It's a shame Donna wasn't in place when we booked the wedding but now that she has control of the weddings and events up there I can personally guarantee anyone looking to get married in such a lovely venue with such an amazing team then the Blackhorse has to be looked at. The room was set perfect and it's December so had all the Christmas decorations up too, nice warm fires and lovely lights made the atmosphere of the room perfect. We got married in the George Ridley Room and had our full day here, from Ceremony to evening reception the whole day ran perfectly for us. The food was amazing and not one complaint from anyone. Perfectly cooked and presented to us. The drinks package was good too with wine on the tables, arrival drinks and pink prosecco for toasts. Once we were married the turn around of tables and chairs to get the room set for the wedding breakfast was done with ease and very prompt to. The tables looked amazing and we gave Donna and her team free reign of dressing them nice and boy did they deliver. Absolutely amazing and we couldn't of asked for a better day. I know there are some bad reviews from wedding experiences left about this venue, but please be aware this was before the amazing team were in place at the Blackhorse Beamish. Our day was perfect from start to finish and we highly recommend this venue. Just an amazing day spent with amazing family and friends in a perfect venue with a perfect experience from all of the wedding team, the bar staff, all the chefs and everybody involved with making our day so special. Thank you to Amanda and her housekeeping team for making the bridal suite perfect for us. We loved our room and it was just perfect for us. Always remember that Donna is the boss but don't upset Anne or there will be trouble haha. Thank you so much to you all !! Simply perfect !!!!

We have just celebrated our daughters wedding in the marquee and I cannot fault it. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. Our families stayed in the Red Row Cottages and my daughter stayed in the Red Row Retreat. No complaints off anyone. Very luxurious, could have stayed longer. We had a meal in the restaurant the night before, lovely menu choice and all served hot. Bar staff very attentive and were chatting with our Grandaughter who is nearly 3. We were allowed to go into the marquee the night before the wedding to set up and put things where we wanted them and again the staff were very helpful, we met up with Donna the wedding coordinator who can I say is amazing! Nothing was a problem, nothing too much trouble and Donna reassured us that she could pretty much solve any issues that may arise. She lived up to that when about 15 minutes before the ceremony a button came off my daughters wedding dress, no problem Donna to the rescue with needle and thread, we called her Mary Poppins with her bag! The staff in the marquee during the wedding breakfast were amazing too ( Anne and Angelica I think). Bar staff, sorry I don’t have names but worked tirelessly to serve over 130 people, no complaints. A very long shift for them all. Thank you so much Black Horse, you have amazing staff you should be proud of they certainly made my daughters wedding a day and night to remember forever.
