the hotel is on the edge of nigen lake and has a gorgeous lawn and access to the lake. It’s WAy from the hustle of srinagar and still is in the central part of the city. Food is fantastic, service is phenomenal and rooms are very nice, esp in the main building. The rooms in the annex are smaller

What a lovely place to stay for those seeking some local flavour. Simple yet packing a punch. Slept like a baby on the super comfortable jumbo bed, with lake view on both sides, and the curtains open… the food is cooked with love and presented beautifully. Morning kahwa and evening tea in the lawns with beds chirping around. We went for an early morning shikara ride to Dal Lake, the gardener Farooq himself takes you there, that experience was cherry on the cake! Can’t recommend enough.

Awesome place and excellent hospitality. Beautiful location on the banks of Nigeen Lake, Hotel Dar-Es-Salam is a traditionally decorated accommodation with comforts and befitting appointed services. The in-house restaurant serves delicious multi-cuisine delicacies in a comfortable homely dining hall.

Totally agree with all the previous rave reviews and more. This is a destination in itself, unrivalled in an already amazing city. Stayed 3 nights but could have stayed 3 months! Fabulous grounds, decor, views, food. What impresses most is the team from owner Mr Khurram, ***ager Abdul Hameed to the rest of the personnel, including Farook the shikara rower cum gardener! still dreaming of this Kashmiri gem. Friends are already planning a trip. Faultless in every way

We stayed a night and would have loved to have stayed longer. This is a residence converted to a hotel - I think they have 9 rooms and it is set in a garden almost at water level. The decor, like the gardens, invites you to spend time appreciating each little nook. no generic hotel look at the Dar es Salaam. The gardens are clearly someone's passion. They are vibrant, layered with colours and have little surprise corners to delight the eye. Sitting out on the lawns as the day brightens, is an experience not to be missed The rooms are comfortable, everything you need is there, the plumbing works, the water is hot, the sheets are clean and the furniture is cosy. The food, served in the beautiful dining room is fresh, tasty and comes with explanations of traditional dishes for the uninitiated. The staff are efficient, cordial and attentive without being obsequious. They engage with the guests cheerfully and are a trove of information, if asked . Note a wrong note in the entire place.

Awesome boutique hotel with an old british charm. This is probably the most unique hotel in Srinagar in terms of location, in terms of the setting and ambience and in terms of its service. The lounges this hotel offers for an evening reading or relaxing is out of this world. The balcony provides a wonderful view of the Sun setting over Nigeen Lake. The tall arm chairs and the tiger skin on the carpet adds to the vibe. Food os awesome and staff very friendly. Lived my stay here.

We stayed at this lovely property in October. The property is an old bungalow converted into a boutique stay. It has an amazing lawn which I believe was better kept than the Mughal gardens. The interiors are done up in a regal way and aesthetically. The view from the resort is the beautiful calm and placid Nigeen lake. Rooms are comfortable, we stayed at the one on first floor. There are ample spaces to sit with a cup of kahwa and a book. The food is served lovingly and is delicious. The breakfast spread was good as was the dinner. They included a few Kashmiri dishes which made the experience great. It is located right at Nigeen lake and you can take a Shikara ride anytime by just informing the desk a few mins before.

I celebrated my 60th at Dar-es-Salam and it was, in a word, magical! The property is gorgeous & charming - look at photos if you need convincing. The staff were participative in curating the experience; service was welcoming; the kitchen rolling out the most wonderful Kashmiri, Awadhi & Continental dishes. Finally, the location - an old property with its grandeur restored, with a beautifully maintained garden stretching out to the Nageen Lake around it. Stunning!

Fantastic property - great location, peaceful surroundings, access to Nigeen/Dal lakes, friendly and helpful staff … highly recommended for a quiet getaway. Food at the property was good too - with a variety of daily Kashmiri dishes. Rooms are comfortable - some could do with sprucing up the bathrooms … not a dealbreaker though. The property has a beautiful garden (chai/pakoda available on request), lake views, shikara access and common lounge/deck rooms that can be used by all guests.
