Premier Inn Cardiff City South

Have stayed in many Premier Inns, but this wasn't the best. Good location, free parking, comfy bed as usual, quiet. Standard of cleaning poor. No bath which we look forward to after a long day's travel. Didn't realise that Premier Plus rooms have a shower instead. Heating didn't work. Had to wait for an hour for our evening meal at adjacent Brewers Fayre.

Apon arrival we were met with an empty reception and waited around 10 minutes before someone came out. Once the long haired gentleman did get behind the counter he asked if he could help now as we got there just after another older couple we waited for them to go to the reception desk, however before they could get there the receptionist informed us that " he didn't have all day or time to wait" which set the tone for the rest of our encounter with him. We wanted early check in (12pm) which seemed to annoy him further as he huffed before saying he's only got 3 rooms ready and he supposes he will have to do everything. The rest of our stay was fine the room wasn't terrible although the shower/bath was warm not hot , besides that the room wasn't bad but our room faced the road and was rather loud although it wasn't the fault of the hotel. The car park was covered in litter and the reception area had dust and cobwebs throughout. We didn't visit the bar/restaurant so can't comment on that. It must be said that every other member of staff we encounter was very friendly and professional.

This is our go to hotel when attending events in Cardiff and usually stay here every couple of months. I like the location as easy to get to off the motorway and plenty of free parking included. The city centre is within a 15-20 min walk or an Uber is really cheap usually less than £6. You know what you’re getting with a premier inn, budget accommodation but good service and decent rooms. On this visit though we were left disappointed. The room was grubby and run down. Marks on walls and carpets. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, the sink was dirty, hair around the bath. The was one towel for 3 guests and it had a nasty brown mark on it! Woodwork in the bathroom was rotten and dirty and needed replacing and the bathroom ceiling was mouldy. In the room a ceiling panel had been removed and not put back exposing dusty and dirty pipes and vents. There was a huge hole/rip in the quilt cover! Was also disappointed this trip with the breakfast, the whole area again looked not dirty but grubby, food was cold / Luke warm and tasteless. Limited continental choice no cheese etc. pancakes and crumpets like rubber and no muffins as advertised.

The hotel was larger than I thought with a good car park right outside. In Cardiff parking is a rarity so I would suggest leaving your car here and getting a taxi into Cardiff Central. (£8 to Cardiff Castle) We had the last room on the ground floor which is quite a distance from Reception. (Something to be aware of if you have mobility issues). Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only complaint is that the room was far too warm. There was no air con, and a fan was in the room, but be aware of this if you have an issue with warmth. Overall a brilliant stay.

We visited Cardiff for my partners birthday, to attend an Ice hockey game and booked to stay here. I asked for the room to be decorated in some way and were very happy to be greeted with a balloon, chocolates, bottle of wine and a lovely birthday message! This already superceded any expectations. We were able to check in early for a small fee, which was again helpful to our trip and plans. The room was clean and comfortable and set up for our little one who we had with us. We decided prior to check out, to have breakfast at the brewers fayre pub next door, and again we were not disappointed. Breakfast was lovely, all hot food well cooked and tasty, continental had a good variety available and a good variety of both hot and cold drinks were available too.

Had a great stay at the Premier Inn, with very friendly and helpful staff. Ideally place with only a 15-20 minute walk to the city centre. And a 5 minute drive to Cardiff Bay. I would highly recommend a visit.

Booked a room clean and it wasn’t done, we had to go to reception to request clean towels. We also reported a fault with the electrics which leaked water all over the side and again this was not fixed during our stay. I am registered disabled and walk with a crutch, we were placed on the first floor with no lift facility and when we complained we were told that they could only swop us to a normal room, we were in a premier room with no offer of a refund for the difference.

The hotel is fine with parking . The room was large and clean although standard Wi-Fi was poor . Breakfast is served at the Brewers Fayre on site and the evening meal was reasonably priced and decent .

Stayed 1 night in March 24, Good - large tv in room, free car park but you must enter vehicle reg at reception Bad - dirty room including dirty bathroom with furniture heavily chipped and laminate on desk peeling off, link restaurant is dire - poor quality food, dirty interior and bad atmosphere This is a bad standard of premier inn
