When we arrived at the Star Inn ( that is myself and my husband), we were immediately welcomed by a staff member. Once we were booked in, we were shown to our room with en-suite, which was in a refurbished barn at the back of the pub. It was perfect for our two night stay. It was warm, clean and comfortable. There was bottled water, sparkling and still and a selection of teas and coffees for refreshment. We were booked in for an evening meal at the Star Inn restaurant. The tables were lightly dressed with placemats, cutlery and sparkling glasses. There was background music and warm lighting to give a lovely ambiance. Both our meals that we ordered, were divine. For starter, I had roasted beetroots and butternut squash, Kidderton Ash goats cheese mousse, orange and watercress salad. My husband had: duck leg confit terrine, plum chutney, celeriac slaw with toasted bread. Both meals were beautifully presented and they were tasty! For the mains, I had Sea Bream Fillet, potted shrimp dressing, tarragon poached potato gnocchi, green beans, shellfish bisque. My husband had: slow cooked beef cheek, smoked cheese crumb, horseradish mash, red onion marmalade and broccoli. Again both meals were excellent! The next morning, we both enjoyed a full cooked breakfast with quality ingredients, especially the black pudding. We did not book dinner at The Star Inn on Saturday evening as we ate at another restaurant, but on Sunday morning, my husband could not resist another full English however, this time I had porridge which was accompanied by a fruit compote and peanut butter. I have never had these together before, a delicious combo. Throughout our stay, the team of staff that we met were attentive, perfectly communicative, lovely and were a pleasure to meet. I would love to book a stay at The Star Inn again one day. This was a real treat.
