Super 8 by Wyndham Sturgis

You know you’re in Sturgis when they have motorcycle parking that is monitored 24/7. The rooms were nice and affordable. The beds were uncomfortable. Staff was amazing as we had to check-out early.

The first room I went into had stains on the sheets, wasn’t clean, looked as if someone had slept in it. I requested another room, the owner proceeded to say it had been cleaned multiple times. I said it hadn’t, and he could go check. He gave me another room, it was fine. The area is quite ghetto, it’s very rundown and not overly clean.

Hot meal need some improvement. Scrambled eggs had too much water, breakfast sausage was cold. This is the first time I’ve seen hotdog served for breakfast

We paid for a room with a jetted tub but got a regular room. To be fair, I didn’t remember when we checked in that this was the hotel with the jetted tub, so I didn’t say anything. The sliding glass door from our room exited into an internal hallway, not the outdoors. That door would not lock, so we had to use a walking stick to secure it. On the other hand, the staff were very nice and the breakfast was pretty good - scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, bread, muffins, juice, coffee, apples, oranges, bananas and biscuits with sausage gravy. We slept well in the beds, and the shower was good. Easy access to Interstate. We give it a 7 out of 20.

Room itself was clean and in good order, it worked as a night stay, but it was located in the basement, window was facing to the window well so the only option was to close it with the curtain. Poor lights.

No one was at the 24 hour front desk at 2am. There was a little buzzer on the counter which rang in the back room to no response. There was no other way to reach the staff, so I'm not sure if they had stepped away for a little while or were sleeping in one of the rooms, or if something bad had happened?? We waited half an hour, talked to multiple Super 8/Wyndham customer service people, and ended up getting a refund and having to go elsewhere that night.

It was older property but it was clean. The staff was helpful! Breakfast was good!

The first thing was the overpowering smell as soon as we entered the lobby. The same smell was throughout the hallway and room. I carry air freshener when traveling so had to use quite a bit in the room. While walking down the hallway it felt hollow underneath us. We were on the ground floor, and we noticed the window was not latched. When we tried to close it, the latch would not catch. We went to the front desk, it seemed he did not believe us as he said no, no the window is locked. I said no it is not. He came to our room and then my husband went outside and pushed on the frame they were finally able to get it to close. The shower had no pressure so the water just dribbled out. The towels smelled. The hotel is old and needs updating.

The front desk person checking us in was excellent. He was the smiling face I welcomed after a very, very long day.
