Solitaire Mountain Lodge

The place is very nice, very nice people and the decor is really good.

Un sitio muy especial con un bonito jardín de cactus. La magia de la naturaleza, el silencio, los animales salvajes en la zona. La cama es cómoda. Es necesario un coche para entrar y salir. Fui sin, y es un problema. Aún así buscaron la manera de que alguien me llevara. La mayor parte del tiempo no hay cobertura de teléfono ni internet. La comida es abundante, pero nada es muy bueno.

Had an amazing 2 night stay here, the location is incredible, set against the mountains with an endless view across the desert. Staff are super friendly and welcoming, rooms are great with good AC, especially liked the terrace off the room where you can watch the sunset, sunsets here are incredible. The breakfast and dinner was ok, not amazing, but the location and staff made up for the food quality.

Very nice buildings and the people are friendly, but it seems to be missing warmth. The rooms are big and clean. The beds are 160 cm wide with standard covers that are too small for two adults. There is a nice swimming pool with deckchairs around it. There are two waterpoints for (wild) animals and we saw some jackals and (after dark) a group of 30 or so wildebeest. We were told also zebra and wild cheetah frequent the waterpoints. We booked this location because there was a possibility to rent bikes. On arrival we were told the bikes were not in good condition. We did do the cheetah tour which was ok. As in other places the cheetahs were born in captivity and do not hunt. They were fed just that morning and were resting. The driver drove his truck towards the cats to get them to move which disturbed me. The farm belongs to the same owner as the lodge, fuel station and bakery some 7 kms away. Only cash payment is accepted but if needed you can pay with credit card for the Farm at the fuel station. There is also an atm at the fuel station. All in all a nice location for a night but it could be much better. PS the bakery is REALLY worth a visit.

during low season, we had been the only guests. Makes dinner/breakfast a bit feeling lonely. Therefore, for dinner we went to the main lodge (at the fuel station, approx 6km from the Solitaire Desert Farm). The toaster for the bread was defect, made black tiles only... Otherwise: very nice, very quite, great star-gazing. Rooms are very spacious. Clean pool. Missing the owner to say "hello" (was on premise). Warhogs seen at the water-hole.

Great service. Tangeny was a great host and knew so much to share about the area. The dinner was good. Lots of animals to see near property. Easy access to Sossuvlei.

Quite a way off the main road but that gives it complete peace and quiet apart from nature.

Des giraffes nous acceuillent sur la petite route qui mène au lodge, puis c'est au tour du staff adorable de nous faire visiter les lieux. Il s'agit d'une ancienne ferme achetée à l'après guerre, et à la source de developpement de la micro ville de solitaire (essence, boutique, restaurant..). Les chambres sont propres et spacieuses avec un toit de chaume. La piscine doit sur un waterhole dans lequel les animaux viennent s'abreuver le soir. La cuisine du restaurant est généreuse et la cheffe se plie en quatre pour répondre aux intolerances alimentaires! J'ai eu droit à des cakes sans gluten pour le petit déjeuner. Attention cependant sur place, Solitaire desert farm a changé de nom et s'appelle maintenant: Solitaire Mountain Lodge

Gut zu erreichen, super freundliches Personal und gutes Frühstück.
