I have a visual impairment, I’m blind in one eye, my other eye’s pupil does not change in size going from light to dark making it very difficult in extreme light and dark, plus it has a cataract. My booking was through Tui which described my room as being a twin room with balcony or terrace plus 1 sofa bed etc.. Tui kindly made a medical requirement for a light bright room. I also emailed the hotel to explain my problem which I always do. I received a polite reply saying they would try their best to accommodate me! The room they gave me was absolutely disgusting, it was very dark with just a small window and no outside space. They called it a shared terrace when it was simply a shared walk way. I was informed I had only booked a standard room!!! I told the reservations manager I couldn’t stay there I would have to move. I was asked to give it one night and see how I coped. I politely told him.. tell you what I’ll poke you in the eye so you can’t see, then you tell me how you cope!! I was staying 11 nights.. they also had the cheek to charge me their 5* tourist tax rate an extra €10 a night for that room!! I had been travelling since the early hours coming specifically for Greek Easter which had started. I struggle with fibromyalgia and was in a lot of pain having to wear a neck support. Tired and frustrated I wanted to try and find somewhere else to stay. Reception said they would try and move me but they were fully booked!!! I struggled at breakfast as the tables were too close together, they also have lots of staff walking around getting in the way all the time making it very difficult for me. The levels around the hotel are up and down, steps here, slopes there, cracked tiles around the pool with trip hazards. Sun beds so close together you have to walk close to the pool to get to a bed, again a risk hazard for anyone! Lots of staff standing around doing not a lot, very charming and friendly but not once did any of them walk round the pool and ask if you wanted a drink.. no you had to go to the bar, order and then they would bring it over. I had to leave my door open when I was in my room apart from when I was getting showered and dressed. Nowhere to put my swimming stuff to dry or rinse through some underwear as it was a walkway with just a table and chair outside. I have never stayed in such a bad room in all my travels and I have stayed 5* on many occasions in Greece (check my reviews). I spoke to Tui after a week who informed me the hotel always has spare rooms for emergencies, hey presto I was moved the next day with just 4 days left of my stay there. I was moving to The Troulos Bay Hotel for the remainder of my holiday so booked and paid the hotels transfer.. as I was leaving a lady on reception told me she would miss me, really I don’t think so!! The icing on the cake was the transfer.. wearing my neck brace because I was in pain I had to ask someone staying there to take my cases to the hotels transfer vehicle. The driver jus
