Mirbeau Inn & Spa - Skaneateles

This place is great for beating the winter blues or blues at any time of the year. If you want a spa getaway this is the place to go. My favorite part is the year-round outdoor hot tub. Pair it with a wet or dry sauna in each locker room. Fall asleep in the relaxation room after you get a face or body treatment from Katie. Have breakfast/lunch in your spa robe in this French country retreat. Relaxation and getting away from it all is what this place is all about. It is a whole different world. On top of it all, it is like you have been transported to the French countryside.

While the room was very nice we were unable to take a shower each day because the hot water turned ice cold after about 3 minutes. Every day we complained but nothing was done to fix the problem. It happened every day. I asked that the GM be notified and the front desk person said he was. Yet he never reached out to us to show concern for our problem. We were there to celebrate our anniversary. This certainly put a damper on our weekend. We spent over $1300 for 2 days yet couldn’t get a hot shower?? If you are staying there please avoid room 411.

I felt like royalty as soon as I arrived. I had been just about a month prior and decided to go back last minute. The staff is incredible. Welcoming and attentive to every detail (room service requests, house keeping requests). My room was ready quite a bit early before my scheduled check in and the front desk staff greeted me with a glass of bubbly and a warm, inviting welcome back. I stayed in one of the cottage locations on the upper level which I prefer for quiet. It was quiet. I had no issue with outside noise (except a bit for my last day when I was scheduled to check out - neighbors leaving and doors slamming in the wind) Besides my room (perfectly comfortable bed, pillows, sheets, fireplace, soaking tub (hot water was lacking a bit there) I would have to say the SPA is the reason I come back. The Mens foot treatment I was slightly nervous about but felt so relaxed and at ease with my therapist. The ritual body treatment was one of the top 3 experiences of my trip! Exfoliating scrub that dissolves away to this moisture treatment that doesn’t require a shower to rinse - it was phenomenal and one I cannot wait to come back to. The Ashiatsu massage is one of the reasons I fell in love with the SPA at Mirbeau. If a traditional Swedish massage and a deep tissue massage had a baby that grew up it would be named Ashiatsu! Don’t be scared - you’ll thank me for it ! And end with a facial. The men’s estate facial is relaxing and perfect. I went for relaxation and that is exactly what I experienced. (The bar staff makes the perfect cocktail from an espresso martini to get you to your next spa treatment, to a perfect old fashion with new friends you made). I am looking forward to coming back! 9.5 out of 10!

I'll preface this review with stating I've stayed at several luxury spa hotels. Spa Mirbeau Skaneateles is a small, quaint inn set on this picturesque lakeside village. The service is warm and friendly. I was impressed by how welcoming and accommodating every single staff and service member was toward myself and other guests. They certainly strive to please. The grounds feel compact, a little confining. The gardens a koi pond is pretty, but not well lit at night, and imho cluttered (just not my style). The rooms are spacious, well appointed, albeit dark. The bathroom is gorgeous with large clawfoot soaking tubs and tiled showers. The food was decent, pricey, but not out of the realm for a luxury hotel. While the spa services were excellent, the spa itself is underwhelming. The aqua terrace is very small and was quite crowded for an "off peak" time. I can't imagine what it would be like at full capacity. There was barely room for people to sit and the terrace is not much more than a glorified hot tub. The quiet room is really dark (I couldn't see to read). There's water and tea, no fruit or snacks. The locker rooms are small, cramped, with one changing area and one toilet. The lockers are miniscule and barely enough room to place a purse and clothing. There is a dry sauna and steam shower, and all of your toiletries nicely laid out. There aren't a lot of activities offered, and if you want to take any fitness classes you need to preregister on the app. I don't think staying here more than a day or two at most would be warranted. What got me was the sticker shock! Check your bill carefully. I found 2 errors. And at over 700.00/night for room alone, not including food, spa treatments, added resort fees the one night was over $1200. So compared to Canyon Ranch, Miraval, and the Lodge at Woodloch (my favorite), Spa Mirbeau left me feeling a little nickel/dimed for what I got. Would I come back? Probably not. Personally, I think the Lodge at Woodloch offers way more for the same or maybe less (with dining included, an unprecedented amount of activities, and spectacular scenery).

I've stayed at the Mirbeau several times. I can say with certainty your dinner will always be room temperature, never hot, and all the steaks are very fatty. The quiet room was WAY too hot, I had to go into the hot tub to cool off. For the price you are paying you can go out for a nicer dinner for far cheaper. Save your money and get a better experience for less. The Mirbeau is all looks and no promise.

Everything was just right. We had a romantce package given to us as a wedding gift. The food was delicious, the level of service incredible. WE were pampered all the ay through. We took classes in the studio, had massages, relaxed in the spa and the hot tub. So restorative.
