Hotel Ideal

We had the very best time at Hotel Ideal. As a couple of mature ladies, we wanted somewhere quietish, calm, clean, well appointed and friendly. And we got it all in spades. Initial communication was great and we rang them with our hire car registration number as soon as we picked it up so had no problems getting into the restricted part. Yes, driving through the narrow streets filled with tourists is definitely an experience but just adds to the whole trip. We had a super friendly welcome from Sebastiano, check in was smooth and our rooms were lovely, clean and the beds were super comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful, all the staff are very very friendly and efficient. We tried the locally produced wine which we recommend. We were able to relax completely as the hotel is just far enough out of the main drag, and it's a 10min walk into town. Watching the sunset across the lake with only the sparrows for company is special. Whilst it was a little too cold to experience the pool or the beach, both looked lovely. We had the very best time and cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, accommodating staff. We can't thank Simone enough for his assistance on what to see and how to get there. He also produced a bed topper immediately for this tempurpedic couple. The room was comfortable, the balcony had a lovely view of the water and sunset. Housekeeping was helpful and thorough. Our room was very clean (of great importantance to us). Each and every employee was pleasant and helpful. For us, the location outside of town, near the Roman Ruins and Jamaica Beach was perfect.

The hotel was ok. Reception staff and some others spoke English so didn't necessarily need to practise limited Italian. The location is scenic but a fair distance from the hub of activity in Sirmione - we are both used to walking reasonable distances so it was ok for us but as it was so tranquil and no evening entertainment within reasonable distance (20/25 minute walk otherwise) a little too quiet. I am fairly sure we had the smallest room in the hotel - it was a little disappointing when we were taken to it and enquired if there was an alternative but response was that it was what had been booked by travel agent, i.e. room with a pool view. We also had to reiterate that a 'twin' room was requested - room contained a double bed so this had to be sorted by the maid. I've never experienced a triangular shaped bathroom before! Requested additional pillows but all were very hard and uncomfortable. We were not impressed that the 'alternative menu' for my friend who has allergeries was not produced until our fifth night (only there for seven). Tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms were non existent. Would I stay again? No.

Lovely location will wonderful views from our room . Staff were friendly and reception staff were very helpful . Lovely terrace for breakfast . Rooms spotlessly clean with good AC. Easy walk into town .

I’m glad that we stayed. Driving through the sea of tourists in Sermione is something that takes nerve (and a small car, patience and some skill). My kids have never seen crowds like it. Luckily Hotel Ideal is situated away from the bustle. Views are fantastic. Breakfast on the terrace with the olive trees was lovely and quiet too because the tourists had yet to come that far up the peninsula. The ruins of a villa which is a stones throw from the hotel are definitely worth a visit. The Jamaica beach isn’t exactly a Sandy beach but the kids enjoyed playing on the rocks. The room was dated but spotlessly clean. Probably because it smelled like a gallon of bleach has been used as disinfectant. Beds and pillows were adequate. View of the lake and ruined villa was spectacular. We enjoyed the stroll to and from town but it is a 10-15 minute walk (slightly uphill on the way back). Sebastian at the front desk is a gem and couldn’t do enough to help and his recommendations were spot on. It was the most expensive hotel on our week long trip and probably the least favourite for all of us. But we were paying a premium for being in Sermione and booking a quad room in August. It was still worth it for the experience.

In this hotel you will fall in love with Italy. Magical romantic place, great staff!! We were so impressed that we took one extra night! Remember to register your car to enter the island - it is historical place.

We’ve made a stop at the restaurant of the hotel during our day in Sirmione. We didn’t expect a lot as the town was super disappointing with lots of people in the streets and poor quality restaurants. And we had a great time at the ideal restaurant ! Very calm place and tasty food. I can only recommend

We stayed here for four nights at the start of August and we couldn't have made a better choice! The room was spotlessly clean and well appointed, the housekeeping service was fantastic and the views from the (huge) balcony were spectacular. The pool area was beautiful with equally as lovely views out to the lake, and the staircase down to the private beach area was a great addition. We stayed at the hotel for dinner one night which I would highly recommend as the quality of food and service were excellent. The staff were exceptional and I'd like to give particular thanks to Sebastian at reception and Alessandro at the bar who both went above and beyond to ensure customer service was of the highest standard, we really appreciate their effort as it made our stay all the more enjoyable. The hotel is set a five minute walk from Sirmione old town (which you have to walk/drive through to get to the hotel), which is really nice as the town itself can get very busy so being a little out of the hustle and bustle made for a more peaceful stay and meant you got lake views on all sides as its positioned at the tip of the peninsula. Just on the hotels doorstep is the Grotte di Catullo, a fantastic archaeological site which is well worth a visit! The thermal spa just down the road is also a great experience. Overall, this was a fantastic stay and we would definitely return!

Stayed in July 2023 having driven to Italy from the UK. The hotel is in an ideal spot, once navigated through the narrow people filled streets which was part of the charm and adventure. Views are spectacular, food lovely (we only had breakfast), service incredible, particularly from our dealings with Reception (Christian was particularly helpful). Room was spotlessly clean and really well appointed with all you need. So easy to walk into Sirmione and also access lake waterfronts. Would definitely recommend and return. One small thing that would have been nice in the room would have been able to make own hot drinks but this really wasn't an issue. Overall wonderful and great value for money.
