Stayed here for 2 nights luckily it wasn’t more than that. Emailed the hotel asking about their laundry list twice no one bothered replying, guess what I showed up and asked about their laundry service, the receptionist only replied ‘no’, and when I further asked didn’t you advertised your property has a laundry service then he said ‘the machine is broken’. That’s got nothing to do with me right? You could’ve offered an alternative as in charging me your full price then you take it out somewhere to have them washed? I know hotels can do that since I worked in the industry. Receptionist only took my passport and asked me to fill out the form, 0 explanation to what was included in the room plan (even my driver wondered why) Shower drainage was a disaster it was flooded, water pressure was so weak Internet was down for the 2 days that I stayed, the only place to have wifi service was in the lobby, which wasn’t consistent either. Needed to wake up at 430 the next morning so I had to go to bed early, at 22:15 realized the air con was dripping water, went to the reception and it was already pitched dark, luckily their kitchen was still opened so I managed to get their guys to come check. What they did was simply turned up my air con and said it’s fixed. 10 minutes later of course it’s still dripping so I went out again and guess what, this time even the kitchen is closed. I walked around the property trying to locate one staff - no one could been seen. Went back to the room hoping to locate a hotel information directory- none, not even a phone in the room. Called to the hotel main line no one picked it up. Looked up the Ekho hotel official website dialed all the numbers given for 10 minutes eventually reached out to their Colombo HQ and he got someone over and switched me to another room. By the time all these messed up finished it was already 2315 Next day demanded to speak with the manager on site he offered lunch and dinner plus the laundry. I gave him the bill for the laundry and had dinner at the hotel. It was kinda like a test to see whether the message was being passed down. Nope. At check out they charged me for dinner. I just wanted the whole thing to be over didn’t even bother asking for the manager again. Oh and did I mention the new room have had the same air con issue but I only noticed it after switching it off as I was about to check out. Seriously the only positive thing about this hotel was the location. Can you imagine not having ONE staff on ground to support what happens if there is an emergency? A simple signage which says call this number for any assistance needed during your stay, or to explain to the guest that your reception is closed after some certain hours at check in would’ve been helpful. I’ll avoid the EKHO group as a whole seriously.
