Auberge Escapade Inn

The professional photos of their website make the rooms look better than they are. We booked two executive rooms (view on the back side). Rooms are spacious but do not look nearly as glorious as what the website make them look to be. Everything is run down, just about every patio mosquito screens were torn. Lots of stairs to get to second floor. The breakfast was included and it was generous and of good quality. The Auberge is right off the highway, it is on the edge of town near grocery stores and a few restaurants. It is also about a 25km drive to La Mauricie National Park.

It is a nice charming hotel. The bathtub was gigantic and comfortable after a long days work. The rooms are charming. I dined in the restaurant a few times and the food was delish!!

Despite what some reviewers have said, I didn't find the Auberge Escapade to be too bad. The room was pretty much average; nothing fancy, but nothing really bad either. There was a bit of a strange smell, and the door to the outside didn't work, but that's about it. The location is good for getting on and off A-55, but I would stay somewhere closer to downtown if I wanted the full Shawinigan experience. The price is certainly a positive. There is a restaurant on site, but I didn't eat there.

Organized my trip with Trip Advisor as I always do. They had Escapade as top choice, with alternatives Hotel des Gouverneurs or Comfort Inn. In the end, Escapade is a good choice to meet my criteria: top notch reservation service, price ratio, comfortable bedding, tops for cleanliness, no bed bugs, easy expressway access, friendly reception upon arrival, free WIFI, restaurant availability. This is a traditional motel: car parked at 5 feet from the room. It is at crossroads of highways on outskirts of city. Reception desk most cooperative, early breakfast included in attractive setting. However, must say Gouverneurs more charming from outside,better located downtown, but I have not stayed there. One thing Escapade has to do soon: change the wall to wall carpet as it is unattractive though clean.

We are a family of 4 and stayed here for 3 nights during a hockey tournament. Our room was clean with 2 double beds, mini-fridge, DVD player, and we controlled the heating/cooling. The bathroom was clean and the tub was a soaking tub with jets - nice. the staff was very attentive. Breakfast was included but as we were a hockey team, they provided a buffet rather than an a-la-cart services. They provided a conference room for the team to stow equipment thereby keeping the bulky bags out of the rooms. Also they allowed us late check out in order to check out after our Sunday morning game (instead of before); and when we won that game and had to stay in town until that night, they allows 5 families to keep their rooms for napping or entertaining young children and gave us use of another conference room in order to "lounge". I would stay again.

Wow ! Très belle expérience à cet hôtel. C'est petit et chaleureux, la chambre qu'on dit ''supérieure'' est très propre avec un lit comfortable (qui craque un tout petit peu), des oreillers confortables et un beau plancher de bois flottant ainsi qu'un bain. Nous avons utilisé un Tuango. Entrée indépendante à l'arrière du type ''motel'' très accomodant. Déjeuner était excellent. Tout les employés nous ont bien accueillis et nous sommes très satisfaits. :)

nous somme une equipe de hockey et avons passer un tres beau sejour a cette auberge,il ont ete tres accomodant, nous ont fourni une salle pour les jeunes et les parents toute la fin de semaine et en plus nous ont preparé un tres bon buffet.

Personnel au petit soin. On sympathise vite pas difficile ... Chambre grandes et confortables. Hygiène parfaite; calme et petit déjeuner superbe Bien situé. près des autoroutes et du parc de la Mauricie. En plus entouré de végétation. Le restaurant est remarquable ( siège de diverses associations comme lion's et rotary. Accès internet gratuit et à volonté dans un petit bureau. Coin café ( on se sert comme on veut Carte très riche et table d'hôte sympathique. Place de parking en face de la chambre ( façon motel ) pratique pour arriver et repartir.) Tarif très compétitif. .

Nous avons couchés à cet endroit hier le 20 août 2016 dans la chambre numèro 38, supposément de luxe avec lit king. Chambre au décor chinois, miroir à la tête du lit, lampe en laiton, salle de bain noir, affreux. Pour prendre une douche nous devions lire des instructions, chose que nous n'avions pas. Par chance qu'un couple d'amis étaient dans une chambre non loin de nous pour nous dire quoi faire, eux avaient lu les instructions, quelle farce. Pas de manette pour la télé, il a fallu descendre à la réception pour cela. Couverture usagée, pas trop propre, air climatisé c'était plus tôt un ventilateur immense au plafond. Bref s'y abstenir. Coût 158.00 la nuit.
