Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel Scranton

We stayed at this hotel for one night during our trip to Steamtown (which is amazing!). The hassle began right away when we were told at 4:30 that is would be a 45 minute wait to get into a room because there were no clean ones available. Once finally in the room it appeared fine other than a lot of chipped paint and very dirty windows. Later that night we discovered that there was only one working outlet in the room. Being the typical family with an 11 year old son we have a lot of things to charge so thank goodness I remembered to bring our multi usb charger. The next morning we additionally found that the fan in the bathroom did not work and the floor to the tub was very soft and spongy, making us wonder if the tub was installed wrong or the ”historic” floor was rotting away beneath us. Our ”comped” breakfast because of the long wait for our room did not cover the drinks, which we found out after we had already drunk them. The final straw was discovering in the light of day that the outlet problems in the room were because of a tangle of power strips pluggedinto one another had been switched off. My husband had to crawl under the night table to discover this and came back up with many hairs on his shirt. It is a beautiful building with lots of charm but most of that can be seen in the lobby for free without risking an electrical fire 3 inches from the bed. If you are going to charge people to stay there it comes with assumption of basic safety. This was our first experience in a Raddison hotel and we will for sure be staying at our usual Hilton hotels from now on.

Room was booked as part of a travel package for a music event at the mountain. Check-in was 3pm, event’s doors open at 4, you would think they would anticipate a lot of people descending on the property at the same time. Many of the rooms were not ready at 3, leaving a large group of travelers stuck in a warm lobby or in line out the door in the hot sun. Instead of bringing out pitchers of water, or some token of appreciation for the wait, the woman at the desk just attempted to avoid eye contact with everyone. When we it was our turn to check in, the clerk told us that the room was not ready, it would be about 15 minutes, to sit off to the side and she will call us over as soon as it’s ready so we don’t have to go through the line again. After about 20 minutes, my husband checked with her and she replied “Oh, yeah, it’s ready.” Who knows how long we would have sat there if he didn’t check back? They only had enough keys to give out 1 per room. The electronic key through the app does not work at this facility. The key stopped working, and when we went down, the woman in front of him had a disabled key too. The alternative side entrance next to the elevator broke down, so everyone had to go around through the lobby. I wonder if that’s a fire code violation in case of a need to evacuate? The restaurant is closed, and the “continental breakfast” is a rolling cart full of gas station-style faire. The room was not clean. It did not look vacuumed. There were strangers finger prints all over the ice bucket lid. There was black mold and obvious water damage on the ceiling in the bathroom, likely due to no exhaust fan. We started with an empty roll of toilet paper, facial tissue box was out too. There was a little dorm fridge on the floor right in the middle of the path to the bathroom, we moved it right away because it was surely something we would fall over getting up in the night to use the bathroom. There was a letter telling us they are not performing housekeeping during our stay because of Covid and to leave trash and dirty linens outside the door and to call the desk to request more. I have stayed many nights at hotels in the same price range for concerts and my kids travel team sports. I don’t expect a ton, but this place can do much better.

Checking in was lovely because of Shawn. Clean. Walkable to Uni and restaurants. Price was high the weekend we stayed there for Scranton. Stay away from the rooms near the elevator. Remember that it is in the city; so, even on the highest floors you can hear road noise.

Stared at this location while driving back home after spending a few weeks in Florida. This hotel is very well located near the I81 and surrounded by many shops, restaurants, gas stations and may more. The hotel and room was very clean and the breakfast was excellent. This is a hotel I would defenitely choose again when in the area.

We needed a place to sleep on our way to NYC. This hotel was directly off I81 and we have always had good experiences with Hampton Inn. The complimentary breakfast is always nice . The Hilton app allowed us to go directly to our room after 10 pm and open it via Bluetooth. Slick.

Currently staying at the Days Inn. Very affordable. Pool is warm. Hot tub is HOT. Room is adequate. Bed are soft. Views are nice. Request a mountain view room if possible. The skyline at night is actually very beautiful. I wish I brought binoculars. Basic cable. Wifi is strong. Breakfast is grab-and-go. Prepackaged stuff. Not a lot of seating. They are currently undergoing renovations too. The lobby restrooms were under maintenance. Housekeeping staff are helpful, but you have to catch them before 3pm. Can't beat the price.

This is a very good hotel. The rooms are spacious with their own kitchen equipment and can be cooked by themselves, making them feel warm. The fly in the ointment is not cleaning the room every day.
