Gemünder Ferienpark Salzberg

The location is great if you have a car. Lots of places to go hiking and quaint villages within an hour or less of a drive. The actual resort is OK. Sauna has to be booked a day in advance, plenty of CD’s to watch for free, washing machines are free to use. Apartment had everything we needed.

The place is clean. The surrounding area is quiet. Parking is not a problem, there’s a lot of available spaces. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. Area is safe. I forgot to lock our vehicle and nothing happened to it. Travel light because there are no elevators. No tub in the bathroom. There’s wifi and tv.

The entire area in and around Eifel National Park is like a Storybook! Although the area suffered a serious flood two years ago, several of the stores and restaurants have returned and others are rebuilding. There are also many nearby towns, within about a 10–15 kilometer circle with many quaint shops and restaurants. This is definitely a place we will return to.

This place is centrally and easliy accessible to Eiffel NP, and some key German cities within 2 hours or less for cultural and historical significance. The place is quiet and located above the towns of Gemund and Schleiden. Getting to hiking trails of any level is withing short walks or driving distances.

The resort was great for relaxing and enjoying the area. They also offered a sauna, although we did not find time for it, but the facility looked inviting. There is no air-conditioning, but we slept with a comforter on us and never got hot. It was nice and cool for sleeping and we often closed the windows at night. The kitchen is more than adequate. After 12 days in Germany changing hotels nightly, it was nice to stay in one place for a week. Plus it was probably the best night sleep we had the entire trip.

If you're looking to be far from the crowds and cities but close to hiking and fresh air, this is the place for you. The apartment was comfortably furnished, and the bathroom even had a tub--a rarity among places I've stayed in Europe. The balcony was a lovely spot to eat dinner, and the WiFi worked well. That said, to get to just about anywhere requires a car or, at the very least, hiking up steep roads. Aachen was about an hour's drive, for instance, and the roads are alpine in terms of steepness and sharp curves.

The apartment at Gemuender Ferienpark Salzberg is an excellent property! We had a 1-bdrm for 3 people and it was sufficiently roomy. There is a good size bedroom (with large closet/wardrobes), big living room, a kitchen, and separate dining room. We did not use the fitness or games facility, but the laundry room was utilized multiple times over our two-week stay. We know from past experience in vacation apartments, they are not hotels - bring your toiletries with you! There was internet, a flat-screen TV and DVD player. The kitchen was outfitted well for the various meals that we made there. Since it was Dec, we did not spend any time on the patio, other than transiting to/from the vehicle with bags, etc. If you want to explore some of the bigger cities, like we did, a rental vehicle is a must. One thing that we found in most places we went to, parking can be a challenge and spaces are very tight, so only get the size of vehicle you definitely need. If you are going to have a rental vehicle, while Dusseldorf is a closer airport, next time we will fly in/out of Frankfurt as the additional delay for luggage at the more regional airport made our day of travel there longer by a couple of hours than if we had just left from FRA. The location is very close to other countries and originally we were going to do a couple of side trips to Belgium, Luxembourg and Netherlands, but with COVID-19 restrictions and frequent changes, we stayed in-country and did a couple of side overnight stays instead. We will definitely consider this property for our next stay in this area! LOVED IT!!

We chose this resort because it was centrally located for day trips in nature, visiting nearby cities such as Aachen, Cologne, but also Luxembourg and Belgium. Everything was very clean and tidy, decent reception. The price included use of a gym, a laundry room with free washing powder, a recreation room. Good value for money.

We enjoyed this clean and well-maintained resort in a safe and quiet neighborhood of Gemund. Our apartment had everything we needed in its kitchen. There were two amenities we loved: the modern sauna and the free laundry room. To make the most of our time, a car was necessary, which we rented in Bonn. With a car we could explore the nearby Eifel National Park and the wonderful medieval towns of Aachen and Monschau. We also easily took a train from nearby Kall to/from Cologne for a day.
