A picturesque, classy and characterful hotel.
We found the lovingly restored building and grounds very charming and relaxing.
The location is near good shops, eating options (although the hotel food was also excellent) and amenities, yet tucked away on a nice breezy hill overlooking the city.
Super welcoming and homely atmosphere. We will be back!

Disappointing in every single aspect of hotel services. A/C out, silly fan option provided little relief from tropical summer heat. Food, mediocre and over priced, including a suprising $8 fee for room service! Staff, helpless and clueless. Sauna door doesn't close, so sauna doesn't heat properly. No clean towels available at pool.
We are local. We have stayed here many times in the past. We will not return

We enjoyed our stay; the hotel looks nice, and the personnel is friendly and nice.
We didn't like that there was no A/C in the hotel, it was not working and the weather was hot.

The hotel is a bit dated. Room was reported to have air conditioning and did not. The food was ok but they overpriced the drinks. Bottle of water $9.76 & Baileys & Coffee $13.50.

Buyer beware! I paid full price for a 5 night stay and when my wife and I arrived we were told the air conditioning was out and that it was being worked on. This was a lie! The ac never worked the entire duration of our stay. I walked the property and never saw anyone working inside or out. The nights were somewhat cool with a breeze but the direction of the wind was never in our favor. We peeled off our clothes every night due to this. When I asked for a discount the front desk clerk went to the manager, who didn't come out to talk to me and offered only a 10 percent discount on my laundry bill. Alta Hotel had me pay a premium for a second rate stay. Totally unacceptable and it will never happen again.

The only thing I would change is that they don’t clean your room unless it’s asked and the shower door wouldn’t close so every time single time you showered, the bathroom would flood
