This is is an amazing hotel. It was by far the least costly of all our hotels across Turkey and by far the best in every possible dimension. Set in a restored Armenian enclave away from the bustle of Sanliurfa city life, this is an oasis of tranquility and hospitality. The rooms are tastefully and elegantly furnished what seems to be the result of a meticulous renovation of a 500 year old property, with comfortable beds, modern plumbing and so many places in the various inner courtyards to just relax. It reminded us a bit of a Moroccan riad but with a unique style and history that is only from this ancient city of Ur. Madame the owner cares so much about your experience and her staff were far more attentive than the butlers of the St Regis or any five star resort globally. It feels like an extended family at which you are guest of honor, simple yet elegant. Proficiency in English is not as common in this region, but phone translation filled any gaps. The hotel arranged tours of Gobekliteppe and Karahanteppe with a real archeologist who would take us through museums or nearby caves and point out with great humility what he had personally excavated. There is so much to see in Turkey its perhaps hard to spend time here, but this would be a great winter retreat for groups small and large. For dinner, they just ordered in our favorite dishes, and breakfast was a lengthy and delicious affair each morning.
