Baglio Giammaccaro

What an incredible place! I cannot recommend this wonderful slice of paradise enough. First, the location is a perfect platform to explore the area. Want to swim? The vibrant beach town of San Vito Lo Capo is right nearby, and the coast is studded with swimming spots. Want to swim in the bluest waters you've seen? Go to Zingaro, and hike between coves and try which ones you like best. Or, if you don't want to hike, they may arrange a boat tour to take you along the best spots. Want an even lazier and more relaxing way to swim? Go in the pool at the baglio, watching the sun dip into the ocean, cradled by the mountains, or try the hot tub surrounded by flowers and gardens. Nap in the hammocks, or in the lounger on your patio. Wander the gardens, immaculately curated, and pick somewhere to sit and read. Sleep peacefully, and wake up to a cheerful multi course breakfast each day, prepared with olive oil from their trees, or from their own vegetables. All of this is amplified by the fact that Stefano and Joseph are just the kindest and most hospitable people you will meet. We cannot wait to return.

Where to begin… really great hosts - they have created a most spectacular environment. If this was just a public garden it would be worth a visit. Five stars: breakfast, massive garden with multiple private areas, swimming pool, views (in every direction), dogs, horse, and rooms. Six stars: The hosts Stefano and Joseph. They have created this magical place from the ground up. Every design detail was well-planned. Highly recommended. And, further recommended to take an isolated day or two to simply relax at the property and try to take it all in.

My husband and I have had the privilege of spending a lot of time traveling in Europe for both work and pleasure, and we have been able to stay at many beautiful hotels. But we both agreed that Baglio Giammaccaro is our favorite place we have ever stayed. It was the perfect restful retreat that we needed. It is even more beautiful than what you see in the photos. The gardens are immaculately manicured, and the rooms are beautifully appointed. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The owners have anticipated every detail of what you might need during your stay. But best of all was the hospitality we received from Stephano and Joseph. We felt as though we not only had two incredible hosts, but also made two new friends during our stay. The cleaner, Antonina was also a delight. She went above and beyond in cleaning our room. She even ironed the sheets and pillow cases. We truly cannot wait to return for another visit.

We feel so lucky to have found this charming Baglio - the most welcoming hosts, magical setting, generous hospitality and delicious breakfasts. It’s like stepping into another world of tranquility and calmness. From the moment you arrive, Stefano gives you a lovely greeting, shows you around their beautiful gardens (with a pool, Jacuzzi and quiet areas to relax) and and gives you lots of recommendations of how to enjoy the local area. Joseph has designed the gardens and Baglio so well, thinking of every finer detail. We couldn’t stop strolling round the grounds to admire their plants, herbs and breathtaking scenery. Stefano cooks a delicious breakfast - fruit salad, eggs (freshly laid from their own hens!) and cake - heaven. The local area is surrounded by two national parks which are great for walking, cycling and swimming in the most beautiful small beaches. There are three main restaurants in the nearby town of Castelluzzo which we enjoyed (very local), and one night we got a pizza takeaway to enjoy back at the Baglio with a bottle of red wine watching the sunset. I confess that when I first read about Giammaccaro, I wondered if it was too good to be true. Perfect reviews? A stunning garden? Tastefully appointed rooms? But the Baglio is very real and even better than the pictures. I stayed four nights at Giammaccaro after an academic conference in Palermo. I was hoping to relax, perhaps get some writing done, and enjoy the natural landscape of this stunning area. I could not have imagined a better place to stay -- an utter oasis...peaceful, quiet, with every last detail curated and considered. From the minute I arrived, Stefano and Joseph took exceptional care of me, providing me recommendations for nearby activities and restaurants, supplying me with a yoga mat and sunscreen when I forgot mine, and attending to my constant need for espresso. The rooms are tastefully appointed and comfortable -- though if you're like me, you won't want to spend much time in them anyway. The gardens are the real show-stoppers -- herbs and cactus and trees and flowers in full bloom for my stay. The grounds are a universe to get lost in - with several different areas to sit and read, relax, write, sunbathe. The pool is a dream. I took a particular liking to the hottub, where I sat and watched the light change on the nearby mountain. The Baglio is the perfect balance of secluded (no major developments or roads nearby) but also convenient to myriad area attractions -- pristine beaches and the Riserva Monte Cofano a short walk/drive/bike away. I rented a car and was glad I did, as Erice, Zingaro, and Scopello are lovely sights to check out during the day. If you're looking for a place where time slows down, where you can be enlivened by the company of resplendent plants, where you can explore during the day and relax at night, or where you can simply relax all day -- this is the place! Joseph and Stefano have created a remarkable place -- and they make such a stellar pair.

We absolutely loved our stay at Baglio Giammaccaro! We were in Sicily for 2 weeks and started off our trip here. We found ourselves daydreaming back to the start of the trip and how amazing it was! Stefano & Joseph were the most amazing and welcoming hosts. We loved the thoughtful breakfasts outside each morning. The grounds of the Baglio were stunning with an amazing attention to detail. The location is great for exploring western Sicily, in particular Trapani, Erice, San Vito Lo Capo, and Castellammare del Golfo. We highly recommend visiting the Zingaro reserve beaches & getting cannolo at the local gelateria in town. Stunning nature all around you is the cherry on top!

We stayed at this B&B in September this year, and quite honestly, we have never been to a place like this before :) We really enjoyed the calm atmosphere, the beautiful surroundings, as well as the delicious homemade breakfast. Hope to come back soon!

We had the most wonderful time at Baglio Giammaccaro! Stefano and Joseph were amazing hosts and so friendly. The Baglio itself is so authentic and beautiful, with rustic decor, beautiful gardens, and peaceful ambience, it offers a true Sicilian experience. The breakfast was delicious, the views spectacular, and it’s so close to many beautiful beaches! We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting and we would love to come back some day!

The most carefully curated and thoughtful retreat we’ve been to in ages. The gardens, the surroundings, the Baglio. Breakfast is great and our host Stefano was kind and very helpful with suggestions and dinner reservations. Thank you for a wonderful and restful break in our Sicilian adventure. Only suggestion is to take insect repellant!
