Casa Mexicana is ideally located in a charming traditional colonial house, right in the heart of San Cristobal de las Casas, a Pueblo Mágico. Its location makes it perfect for exploring the city’s vibrant andadores (pedestrian streets). The hotel spans two spacious buildings, with décor that’s not only Instagram-worthy but also harmoniously reflects the rich cultural heritage of Chiapas. It’s an excellent choice whether you’re traveling with family or as a couple.
The hotel is impeccably clean and well-maintained, and the value for money is outstanding given the quality and character of the property. While Casa Mexicana features an on-site restaurant, we didn’t get the chance to dine there. Nonetheless, I would absolutely return for another stay.

We enjoyed our stay here overall. The hotel has a slightly quirky vibe, but nothing that should deter travellers who know what to expect in Mexico. As has been pointed out, the wifi is not brilliant, but the room was comfortable (the bed particularly), and set back from the road so we were not disturbed by noise. Staff are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed dinner one night, though the menu is limited. Breakfast was a mixed picture - one morning we were crowded out by a large tour, and the experience was stressful, with buffet supplies constantly running out. On the following mornings, things were much calmer and the staff had time to be helpful. The location is central, and most things are an easy walk away in this attractive town. Reception staff very helpful and willing. Worth investigating.

First, confused that my husband and I had different last names, we were assigned two separate rooms. When we confirmed that we were together we were assigned a single room, with one double bed, a small window high up in the wall. Our bathroom was in desperate need of renovation, with chipped tiles, a stained shower curtain, no vents and faucets that leaked all over the counter. Things got worse after the first couple of days when the wifi died and we could only get access to it sitting at the reception area! The hotel has so much potential because the location is a short walk to the zocalo, market and many restaurants and stores. It has a lovely atrium with tropical plants and the occasional humming bird. There is a reasonably priced laundry service on site and an excellent buffet breakfast. However, it needs some upgrades to the rooms and bathrooms to achieve that potential.

Centrally located. No air. We booked it because we read it was quiet but it turns out there is a glass roof which prevents fresh air from flowing. We heard there was an annex that was more open but it was closed. Despite this, it was a good full service centrally located hotel.

Charming hotel that combines the culture of Mexico with the international vibe of the city. Simple, yet it has everything you need - friendly service, comfortable beds, clean rooms, and reliable wifi. Sure, a little "rustic", but it also makes it charming.

The property has plants and trees within an atrium. Old style comfort and great location within city. Staff was more than helpful. Jose was very helpful in assisting with all our touring plans

Casa Mexicana is a great hotel to visit San Cristobal. Miguel and Elton at the reception, Sonia and Rey in the restaurant, and Francisco and Mateo the bellboys, were more than helpful and accommodating. The breakfast buffet is really good, and with the additional guacamole we ordered it turned into a feast. The fountain in the central courtyard gives a lovely and relaxing sound, and the armchairs placed in that area are perfect for sitting down and catching your breath after walking around San Cristobal. Our only complaint was the noise made by the water pump, but once we mentioned it to Miguel, he helped us switching us to a quieter room. He also helped us booking some tours (Palenque and Cañon del Sumidero).
