We stayed for 7D/6N at Palo Alto Glamping which was too long at this location. This resort has the potential to be AMAZING but it falls short in so many ways: PROs: Charming, clean, well-maintained. Staff were warm and welcoming. Beautiful grounds. Outdoor bathroom is pretty cool. Powerful a/c in the room. The mini-hanging bridge located over the stream was cute. Lots of privacy. CONs: Be prepared to wait 45min or longer for your meal (free breakfast) at the restaurant, even if you're the only one in the dining room (food was 4/10). Ammenities are lacking: In-room safe was broken and made a high pitch alarm when we tried to use it, zero counter space by the sink for toiletries, no place to put the handsoap even, shower water never got hot just lukewarm, difficult to get ice (only from bar before 10pm in a GLASS bucket so melted very fast), no "to-go" cups for coffee, jacuzzi was broken the whole time we were there, Keurig in the room never made water hot enough for tea, outdoor bathtub was small and had detritus in it every day so we never used. Only 2 towels provided for 2 people. There was no "trail" around the property as advertised, just the walkway to the other cabins. Massage chairs in the main lobby were broken, no hangers provided, many dogs in surrounding neighborhood barked repeatedly late at night FOR HOURS and the sound echoed like wolves howling. We love dogs and have our own, but this was too much and very disturbing. Don't forget the roosters that crow every morning. Lastly, the location is far from many tourist areas. We had a rental car and drove the monotonous and curvy 2hr round trip every day for 6 days from this resort to La Fortuna and back and regretted it after the 2nd day, so keep that in mind. When we were checking out at 730am the last morning, I was leaving the room to see what appeared to be the maid standing outside our door waiting. That was creepy. If you are passing through Quesada or are in the area for 1 or 2 nights, I think this resort could potentially be a pleasant or romantic short stay experience for a couple. Any longer than that or for a family than the distance and lack of ammenities will become a huge burden. And for those of you that say "but this is GLAMPING!"...don't kid yourself. This is a resort and for the price we pay to stay here, we shouldn't be "roughing it."
