Hotel Cattleya

We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice of hotel for our week in Samos. Hotel Cattleya has so much going for it. Renee, the owner and also the perfect host, made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Being a bit off season we were lucky enough to get a choice of rooms and the one we chose (#4 Ariella) had a superb view of both the sea and the harbour. The room itself was fairly basic but suited us perfectly, a great bed, decent storage, table and chairs on the balcony and a small but perfectly formed bathroom! And that view! Renee took care of out breakfast each day: yoghurt and fruit, perhaps a feta frittata or omelette, maybe a freshly baked croissant, feta and tomatoes, and corn bread plus copious amounts of good coffee. Breakfast was served on the hotels front terrace, bright and warm each day! The atmosphere was always relaxed and, with a key to the hotel, we were free to come and go at anytime of day or night. The other fantastic thing about the Hotel Cattleya was its location! Fairly high up it was no more than 2 minutes walk from a superb small stretch of beach with the clearest calmest sea I have ever swum in. Barely much further in the other direct and down a few more steps you arrive at the start of Kokkari's harbour and a superb selection of restaurants. The Hotel couldn't be better placed. Highly recommended and our thanks go, again, to Renee for making our week so good! xxx

When we arrived at 8 pm the hotel was closed and we could not enter. We were forced to get a different hotel and did not get a refund. Terrible.

The weather was great. The host of hotel was verr helpful and kind. The hotel is smiple and basic. Rooms are clean and very basic. The car park is diffcult to park. Taxis passing through the road was very challanging. We had to pay to the chairs on the beach 10€ per chair per dat and that was not expected.

Rene is awesome and very hospitable. Made us feel at home and always pleasant, helpful and the place is very clean and has an awesome view over Kokari.

My husband and I have just spent an amazing week at Hotel Cattleya in Samos. The hotel owner Renee arranged for a taxi to meet us at the airport, this is a good idea as the hotel is tucked away in Kokkari and our taxi lady, while she was excellent spoke very little English. Renee was waiting to greet us when we arrived, we had a very cooling welcome drink before she showed us to our top floor room. We were lucky to get the superior room on the second and top floor. We had an amazing view of Kokkari, the sea and the blue domed church. Also on the balcony was two sun beds and a small table and chairs. Our room was delightful, it had a king size bed with light bedding, just what we needed. There was air conditioning that worked efficiently, we had an immaculately clean bathroom with shower. There was lots of wardrobe space which was very nice. We also had a fridge, this was very good for keeping our water cold. The room was very clean, it was cleaned daily to a very high standard. Downstairs in guest areas there is a dining area, which I presume is where guests had breakfast on rainy days, we had the most beautiful weather and so we sat out in the courtyard under the lemon trees gazing at the sea. Renee hospitality is fantastic she chats while serving her homemade yoghurt that my husband loved, the home made cakes and pastries were delicious too, Renee would serve fresh fruit from the market, delicious. I was concerned that the beach was too far away, but you turn right out of the hotel and within 2 to 3 minutes you are at Basilico a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Steps at the side of the restaurant go directly to a shingle beach, with sun beds and umbrellas to hire for €10 a day (2 beds 1 umbrella). The water is so clear, a bit chilly, but once you’ve braved it, it is amazing, with little fishes swimming around. Watch the fishing boat come in, we saw his catch of 2 sharks. He also sells his fish to Basilico. This is not an enormous hotel there are just 8 rooms, which is the reason you are treated to the personal service of Renee, she can advise on places to eat, beaches to visit and attractions in Samos. If you are like us and you just want to eat, enjoy the sun and the sea then you won’t be disappointed it’s a truly lovely hotel and Kokkari is beautiful.

we could not see our escape place for 3 years due to covid and this year we finally returned back. We missed sooo much, we enjoyed a wonderful 1 night escape again with my wife. Renee was again not a host but a sister taking care of us for everything (again advised a wonderful dinner place as well) and it was a wonderful 2 days making us to dream about next. Great property with the most friendly staff. The entire place was very clean and short walk to the town and beaches. I came alone and felt very safe both during the day and night. 10/10 and will be coming back.

Our stay at Renee`s Hotel Cattleya was beyond amazing, and felt like we were in an alternate universe. This incredible woman has already a history of hosting this beautiful place for a long time and now we were privileged to stay here. The place is a gem, a stunningly mesmerizing boutique hotel with the best sea and village views, direct access to the beach on the right and the village on the left. The rooms are absolutely breathtaking with its amazing sea views and modern but comfortable stylish decoration. The indoor lounge area feels more like a luxurious living and dining room and the big sea view terrace is perfect for the delicious two course breakfast that Renee serves personally and for lounging or reading. Wifi was top notch, so was the service with room cleaning every day. All in all we are still dreaming and cant wait to be back here meeting other lovely guests from around the world. I especially liked the property manager -- she provided warm hospitality, incredibly breakfasts, and large servings of kindness and support for any type of advice or activities that were requested.
