Tru by Hilton St. Louis Downtown

Very friendly hotel staff, nice hotel! My room was like a closet compared to the rest of the guest rooms in our party, also the parking is expensive per night.

Property was average - breakfast was above par but the card for the lights is inconvenient and the parking situation is terrible. 45 bucks a day to valet w no other option is unacceptable

I booked this hotel because it was close to the things I was doing while visiting St. Louis. I was a little nervous looking at the other reviews and I know St. Louis is having an issue with crime as in every big city. I also know this section of town is trying to get updated and so it looks a little rough at the moment, but Tru by Hilton is doing an excellent job of making their area of town look better. the hotel is really fabulous. Only complaint was that of course there’s no pool and they offer breakfast on the weekends until 10 AM but clearly have no desire to keep it restocked for those of us waking up late on a Sunday morning. I was a little disappointed, that at 9 what little was left was cold or completely empty so I suggest if they have breakfast till 10 AM that they literally keep the food coming piping hot coffee, etc. until 10 AM otherwise close down the kitchen at 9 AM. If that’s all you want to handle whether you have late sleeping customers or not. Again, the area around the hotel does not look the best but they are trying to update it. I do not think they should get blamed for the safety of the area because again they’re trying to make it better, but of course you have to be diligent in your own safety in St. Louis.

The shower leaked and flooded the bathroom floor and soaked my bag of the only clean clothes we had with us.

We stayed in STL for a Hockey game and what stood out was the staff… they were so nice and welcoming!

When I arrived at the hotel, I found out there was no parking only valet parking. This is not the hotel's fought as I reserved on a third-party website; however, instead of having empathy, the associate asked me if I wanted to cancel my reservation. Being that I wasn't a resident of the city, I was taken back. Next, I got to my room and my television didn't work. I called the desk, and the same associate informed me there was no maintenance guy on duty nor was there a manager on duty to me to speak with. This was at 5pm in the afternoon so I had to go the entire evening without a television. The next day I didn't not arrive back to the hotel until 3pm. When I got in, I still didn't have a working television. I had to stop by the desk to ask if anyone planned to look at the television. About time I arrive back at the hotel arrive 9pm the associate informed me the television had to be replaced. Overall, it was not a great experience.

This hotel is not safe. I would highly recommend you look elsewhere in STL. Staff is completely unorganized and surrounding streets are littered with trash and homeless encampments. Our truck was parked directly in front of the hotel and had the window bused out in the morning. They stole shopping bags and spoiled the weekend. I can’t believe Hilton has their name on this property. If you have it booked, I would reschedule!!!

We had a wonderful stay. The staff was so nice. Took us a little time to check in. Don’t line the only option to park was to valet. But they were quick and efficient. Breakfast was hot and good.
