I was in town for a conference at this hotel and decided to stay here for convenience. Front desk staff were, for the most part, delightful for the entire four nights I stayed. My room was spacious with a semi decent view and a mini terrace, though the door didn’t actually open more than a few inches, so one couldn’t avail of the terrace itself… that being said, it was nice to be able to get fresh air into the room! The TV in the room was huge and I am always grateful for a mini fridge, though I couldn’t get this one very cold. One thing that did leave a lot to be desired was the general cleanliness of my room, which I will give 3/5. The vacuuming was very poor (there were remnants of a previous guest’s food on the floor) and layers of heavy dust in the bathroom. It could definitely do with a deep clean! I also used the guest microwaves in the lobby on several occasions — both were filthy with splattered food (gross) and neither had a turntable. Another disappointment was one staff member (who was in the middle of training a new front desk member) — everyone was lovely except for her, when I asked the possibility of a late checkout on my final day. Her response was curt and quite rude: “I can’t tell you if you can or cannot get a late checkout. You have to understand our housekeeping needs and availability. You have to understand there are a lot of guests who will probably be asking the same thing…”. Coming from a customer service background myself, one should NEVER tell a guest what they “need to understand” — there are far better ways to explain this. She also never once said anything along the lines of “I’m sorry, this might not be possible” … it was just poor customer service, which was a shame. This aside, the hotel was very quiet and I slept well (and deeply) each night. Oh, and I got locked out of my room on the day I was checking out — it turns out the battery had died in my door lock, so the front desk staff had to call security, who then called maintenance. Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait too long and both security and maintenance were super fabulous and quick to fix the issue. PS If you do decide to stay here, I hope you get as much of a giggle out of the elevator constantly saying “going down” as I did! :) PPS Location was excellent!

Overall: would stay again! Nice hotel, room, bar, food, very convenient location. LOCATION: Convenient! Right next to DOCO and the Golden 1 Center. Old Sac is a few minutes walk away. Public transport nearby. HOTEL: The decor was a lovely, sophisticated, modern take on various historical periods. Music is a theme, nodding to the historic past of the building. Balcony bar - Art Deco. Clean, eye-catching, charming. Emerald velvet chairs and gold-toned metal accents, whimsical 1920’s & ‘30’s music playing overhead, and servers dressed in simple roaring ‘20’s attire. Menu: Small bites. Phyllo baked brie, oysters, ahi poke, short ribs, Asian lettuce wraps, and more. 1st floor restaurant - “7th Street Standard”, is the name. Bright & elegant with simplicity. This restaurant can be a standalone; it’s better than a “hotel restaurant” in food quality, artistry, and presentation. Didn’t eat here this time, but have before. I recall everything being good! Great drinks last time!! Had happy hour drinks this time ($10), still great! Handcrafted, fresh, subtle sweetness for balance, nothing syrupy or fake-colored (reg price $15). Happy hour food and drinks available 3-6pm. Full menu includes trout, salmon, pork belly, and other goodies. ROOM: I like the decor. The lamps were cool: gold dipped bulbs, bronze-colored cones, retro meets are deco feel. There’s a handy motion-censored light under the bathroom vanity when you don’t want to turn on a bright light at night, light-framed mirror for easy getting ready, spacious bathroom. Views from my particular room were not worth seeing. Good blackout curtains in-room, lots of natural light when open. Bathroom basics included: shampoo, conditioner, lotion soap. Not included: q-tips, cotton balls, etc. The mini fridge could fit some small leftover food boxes. Plenty of outlets near the bed. I don’t recall any food snacks offered for sale. $5 Fiji. Open rack closet, and drawers available. I believe my room was 320 sqft, with enough space to roll out a mat and do a room workout, if that’s your thing (or gym on 4th floor). AREA OFFERINGS: There’s a Starbucks Reserve steps from the hotel and many places to eat, drink & entertain within easy walking distance (steakhouse, bowling alley, movies, rooftop pool bar, beer vault, and SO much more!). While it’s a nice area (million-dollar condos and attractions next door), another block over in one direction becomes a not-so-nice area (homelessness and refuse), so just be mindful of what direction you’re heading, if that bothers you. PARKING: There are unattended daily parking lots right next to the hotel ($13-$16ish/10hrs), hourly metered parking, attended hourly/daily lots, valet ($40 seems to get you 2-day parking with in & out privileges; I valeted early evening, pickup needed before 2:45-ish a.m. on the third day). Valet had a very easy texting system. They texted me my valet ticket with a clickable link to call my car when desired. The link let me know the progress of my incoming car (“requested”, “on the way”, “ready”), so I knew exactly when I needed to head out and could enjoy my time until then. You can tip through the link, too.

Red Roof Inn Sacramento - Elk Grove

Okay, so I'm not a Fiddler on a Roof, but I will ”sing the praises” of the staff at the Red Roof Inn. Some home improvements recently mandated that I find a place to stay for a couple of weeks with my dogs. I initially stayed two nights at a cheap corporate-managed competitor but felt that something was missing. I travelled nearby and met Angie at the Red Roof Inn. She was welcoming and enticed me to stay there answering my safety, service, and amenity concerns (I needed a place for my 2 dogs, and appreciated that the rooms promised a microwave, a mini fridge, a hairdryer, and coffeemaker...the only thing that was missing was a safe but my dogs don't wear Cartier Collar Bling so we were good.) When I returned later to book a room, Maria helped me find the courtesy reservation made by Angie. Maria has been a super star throughout my stay. She works various shifts and is always friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I am not sure if the rooms have recently been renovated but I was pleased with the decor and my comfortable king-sized bedroom (I could visualize this room being in much pricier hotels I have stayed in). I was assisted by four different room attendants, my favorite being Shereen. The other helpful attendants were Shabeena, Riley, and Sovita. Before checking out for a weekend trip, I notified Jesse (maintenance) of a broken electrical plug...when I checked back in 3-days later, it was fixed. While I was away, I received a call from Mahogany verifying my upcoming reservation. I had forgotten to call the property and really appreciated her follow up. Mahogany was always great along with Evelyn, who always called me by name and made me feel like family. The other two front desk agents who helped me were Melini and O'Neal. I mention all whom I met by name because they all prove that you don't have to be a Five-Star Hotel to give Five-Star Service. I noticed many members of this team helping each other instead of having an ”it's not my job” attitude. I believe a team is only as good as the management so I have to also give kudos to Amit and Aneesh. The neighborhood is not the greatest but the property is literally up against a CHP office. They offer free parking (always had a close space) and I never felt unsafe (I was approached once by a young lady who Donna Summer might have referred to as a ”Bad Girl,” but after a quick, ”toot toot, hey, beep beep,” I let her know that she was barking up the wrong tree...as my dogs barked at her!). The property does have a washer and a dryer (working), as well as, an ice machine (broken after first night) and two vending machines (not working during my stay). There is a Jack in the Box across the street but, while you could walk 10-20 minutes, you really need to drive to a close market or convenience store. All in all, this is very good property. I signed up for Trip Advisor just to compliment this staff. This is the first time I have stayed at a Red Roof In

The experience was phenomenal. Everything was perfect. Ice machine didn’t work but that wasn’t a problem because of the fridge keeping drinks cool. The laundry washers worked so well. The Jacuzzi was perfect. I really enjoyed staying at this place and I wish they let me stay another night. I reserved a king room but some reason arrived to a downgrade and a discount room. They saved me some money. Well appreciated.

Our last stay was 6/18/22 We adore the staff! (Lei, Shelly, Angela, Ronaldo to name a few) The hotel is finally doing a renovations and I can't wait to see the improvements. Walls are thin. There is a train near by. Those don't bother us. We come to swim most of the time. I really like the fact that this location takes care of Elite Bonvoy memebers! This location is great with in walking distance to Cal Expo. We have walked many times to the Sacramento Republic Games.

The front desk attendant was very polite. The lobby was very clean and hade a nice aesthetic. So was (and did) my room. I was surprised that they had pump bottles for the shampoo, conditioner and bodywash. A little bummed that they weren't all the same scent though. Other bummers were that the curtains let in too much light. Easy enough to fix by rolling over, or putting a pillow in front of my face. It wasn't THAT bright. And the mini fridge was really loud when trying to cool off. This was also easily fixed. I just turned the thermostat to it's lowest setting. It was silent the rest of the stay. And not a bummer, but the heater is apparently controlled by the wall thermostat that I completely missed. Took longer than I'm willing to admit pressing the off button on the A/C unit. So all in all, I early enjoyed my stay! Oh, almost forgot the breakfast! It was your standard continental affair. Eggs (scrambled or hardboiled), sausage patties, toastable breads, griddle, yogurt, juice dispenser. All self serve of course. I was not able to review the pool. If it was ever open, it wasn't while I was there (I left before 9am and got back after 10pm every day).
