Great hotel

We have just returned from a stunning holiday at the Monte Mullini and we really can't compliment the holiday enough. The location is absolutely stunning with rooms over looking the bay. The hotel is a short walk into Rovinj but far enough out to keep things peaceful. We hired bikes (free of charge) and cycled through the national park to find some beautiful, quiet spots where we could swim in the sea. The pool was also lovely - again it was peaceful and calm. Our room was perfect - it was a great size and the bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom was lovely too. The rooms are kept so clean by housekeeping. We ate in the hotel restaurant one evening and it was delicious but chose to eat at different restaurants in Rovinj for the rest of the week as we like the variety. Breakfast each morning was excellent, there was so much choice and the service was superb. Overall an outstanding holiday and we will definitely return!

What’s not to love! A truly gorgeous hotel in a wonderful setting - a Caribbean feel 1 hour and 50 mins away from London! The rooms are all facing the bay and the bathrooms are very large offering a huge tub and a great shower and enclosed loo. The rooms are spacious with a lovely balcony, though they could do with a little update. There are no drawers to store clothes but that really didn’t spoil our time. The pool area is fab, the loungers so comfie, but getting up early to get chairs was a little irritating, though if you don’t mind being in the garden area or by the pool, this poses no problem, though we personally prefer a pool. We were here celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and I had booked the Wine Vault restaurant one evening that was absolutely amazing. My husband and I aren’t huge eaters and the 3 course tasting menu was more than enough for us. On our actual anniversary we received a bunch of red roses, a bottle of local bubbly and on returning to our room a gorgeous cake. We had dinner that night at their special 2 top restaurant on a small terrace with a designated server for us. Once again a tasting menu of sheer quality and delight. The food at the hotel is scrummy - my only point is that there is no evening casual eating on site. The breakfasts are lovely and once again on a terrace outside overlooking the bay. The most glorious thing about this hotel is their exceptional staff. To name a couple - Erik at the pool. Always a smile, always so lovely and Theodora at breakfast. In fact everyone was fab, but these 2 just stood out! This is a most wonderful adults only hotel - would I go back, yes please!

We visited multiple places in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia. This was the best hotel we stayed at. It truly deserves 5 stars. The staff were super-attentive. Something broke in our bathroom; we did not even report it and it was fixed the same day. They had bikes to borrow, etc. without nickel and diming on everything. One of us had a birthday and got a nice surpise gift.

Great location, approximately 15 minute walk to Rovinj along a flat promenade which is very scenic. Check in was quick despite us arriving in the morning & well before the advertised check in time. Room was beautiful. Lovely size, impressive bathroom and beautiful views across the bay. Also kept spotlessly clean, as the hotel was throughout. Pool and beach area were both good. A slight annoyance was the sun lounger situation by the pool as there weren’t many and sometimes there were towels on beds, despite no-one being there. Pool bar was nice with great views and good service. Breakfast was served until 12 which is a lot later than we are used to but it was great as it made things much more flexible. Breakfast was good with plenty of fruits, cereals, breads, juices, prosecco, hams, cheeses, salads and much more. Hot food was served at the table along with coffee & fresh orange juice. There was a set hot food menu but ordering eggs, bacon, sausage or just eggs was fine. Breakfast service was very good overall. Although one day we ordered a pancake which got missed & service was abit slow. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel. Undoubtedly one of the best that we have stayed at.

We have just spent five nights at the Monte Mulini. We had carefully planned our stay as it was our mid way destination break as part of a driving holiday from the UK to Croatia and back. In mid July the Monte Mulini charges £600 per night, for a deluxe (second floor) room with a sea view. At this level, it definitely needs to be worth it, don’t you agree? We had never been to Croatia and Rovinge is the first part of the country you come to driving from England. As we drove into the area, everything looked promising, very well maintained and the weather was perfect. As you drive up, the exterior of the hotel is quite simple and maybe not as impressive as most five star hotels. However when you enter reception, all that changes. The reception is actually the top of the hotel and the view of the pool and sea beyond the glass is a truly awe inspiring vista. We were efficiently checked and after a complementary Prosecco, we were guided to our room and our luggage arrived soon after. The room was large, with an excellent double bathroom, a lovely sea view and good balcony. If we were being picky, we might say the room was a little dated, but we certainly didn’t feel the need to change it. The air con is efficient and very quiet. As you might imagine after a 300 mile drive from Slovenia in a convertible, by mid afternoon we were dying to get into the pool. There are five pools, all but the main one small and possibly from a time before the hotel became adults only. We asked for two beds and were told the only two remaining were in a cornered with a view of a hedge. We realised it was late in the day and simply took them. We didn’t ask anybody to move the beds to a better position and certainly nobody offered. The hotel uses a button by each bed, so you can attract a waiter. Service seemed good, but when my wife’s iced coffee arrived, it looked like a glass of milk. Upon querying this, with our waiter he said ‘This is how we make it here, and we only put a small amount of coffee in’. He asked if we would like another shot of expresso to which we said yes. Then we received a cup of expresso from my wife to mix herself……and then a second bill to sign for the expresso. All this at £3000+ for five nights…. We decided it might be us being tetchy after the long drive, got changed for dinner, walked the ten minutes to the town to our first pre booked resaurant, Tremonto, which is a little fancy, but excellent. The food presentation is exquisite, but so is the food. We started next day with determined to start afresh. Breakfast is served part buffet (excellent) and cooked (less so). The balcony breakfast location over looking the sea is excellent and white tablecloths and silver service make for a luxurious feel. When my Eggs Benedict arrive 25 minutes after ordering, it became clear there is a real management problem in the kitchen. The poached eggs were only partially cooked, the stale muffins impossible to cut and the smoked salmon was 50% grey/black wher

I can only echo all of the other reviews which have said what a wonderful hotel this is. The location is perfect - one minute walk to the beach and a 15-20 min gentle stroll to the town. We also used hire bikes to explore the neighbouring forest which was very picturesque. Our room was beautiful, the air conditioning kept the temperature at an optimal level without blowing air into your face all night! We also had some lovely touches in the room like chocolate, fruit and sweet treats to welcome us. The highlight was breakfast- such a huge , and healthy, selection and I loved the gluten section which was so thoughtful. The pools were kept in pristine condition but we spent most of our days on the beach. The iced coffee was delightful! Finally - the staff were all so friendly and helpful, especially the concierge who organised a day olive oil tasting, wine tasting and exploring. Thank you Monte Mulini I wish we could have stayed all summer!

Nearly everything is perfect at this hotel. Location, grounds, views, rooms, bathrooms, pools, beach, staff...only the breakfast left me a bit disappointed, especially the hot food offering. It's an expensive place to stay but for a treat it's definitely worth it.

The location of this hotel is breath-taking. Also an easy 15-minute stroll along the beautiful "flat" coastal path into the Old Town. The hotel has free bikes to borrow; you can have them for as long as you like. We cycled through the wooded nature park to the left of the hotel and beyond the old town to the right. Breakfast in the hotel is served until 12; it includes a very extensive cold buffet plus hot-cooked food to order; there is ample choice. The bedrooms all face the bay; they are a good size and have huge bathrooms with Molton Brown toiletries. It is spotlessly clean, with very professional and friendly staff. In addition to the hotel spa, you also have free use of the large gym, sauna, and spa area, which are located in the hotel next door and can be accessed via a linked corridor from the Monte Mulini. I had a wonderful massage in the spa at the Monte Mulini. Very impressive lobby and bar area, with a beautiful terrace. Thank you, Monte Mulini, for making our stay so special. We hope to visit you again sometime soon.
