The Coachmans Inn

I cannot understand why this place is getting such good reviews. Ok, the rooms are refurbished very nicely but you need a service for a place to work. There is no dedicated place to check in so I was standing at the bar waiting while the staff dealt with a very busy Father's day lunch. The staff work hard but they are bar and serving staff. The accommodation side seems to be forgotten about. I eventually checked in and was given a key to a room which wasn't ready. I went back down to the bar again and was given another key to another room which also wasn't ready. The third room was ready but I soon discovered it didn't have a window to the outside world. There is a frosted glass window onto a corridor! So you have to have the light on at all times to see. Also no fresh air into the room except through a window in the bathroom which wouldn't close or lock and had a flat roof outside it for easy access for any intruder. Also there was no shampoo/soap in the shower, no hair dryer, no glass for water and a shower that I couldn't regulate. Most importantly, nobody to talk to about issues except a phone number on the door key. Also, there is no car parking although the place advertises parking. Its street parking or a public car park up the road. This should be noted.

Stayed overnight at the Coachman’s Inn. Last minute booking. Met the owner on check in so nice and friendly. Met friends and family for dinner later food fabulous. Great menu. The decor of the bars etc is quirky and comfortable. Rooms are spotless and very comfortable great showers. The best thing though is the team so attentive special shout out to Michael. Also great value for money in my view. Will be back

Recently celebrated a friends party in the Coachmans the staff were so helpful from start to finish and couldn't have done more to make it special. We had a fantastic meal first which was absolutely delicious and extremely well priced. The dinner table was decorated lovely. Waiting staff were excellent 👌 could not fault one single thing. After dinner we moved to a reserved area in the bar and enjoyed drinks and Fantastic cocktails 🍸. The bar staff were fantastic and could remember the round each time we went to the bar (there was about 15/20 drinks in the round) tables were cleared regularly and there was live music which was great. We stayed in the rooms upstairs which are decorated to a very high standard and were immaculate we had a fantastic breakfast the next morning. Would definitely recommend a trip to this gem for a function, night out and an overnight stay. Keep up the great work

We stayed at the hotel for a weekend. The hotel has a very fine pub and a very good restaurant. The rooms are fresh and modern and cleanliness is exceptional, and staff was really great!! We missed some amenities in the bathroom. Highly recommend and we will return

Centrally located in the town, rooms very nice and clean, great value and the staff very helpful especially Michael the Bar Manager. The restaurant was very busy but we were found a table at short notice and the food was excellent. Will definitely be back ! Oh great Guinness too 😋

This is one of the nicest hotels i have stayed in. It was perfect. We stayed 2 nights. The rooms were spotless. The restaurant and bar staff were lovely and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. A special mention to Alan Connaughton for looking after us so well. Such a lovely guy. The entertainment was brilliant, and we danced the night away. I will definitely be back again.

A very professional welcome from our host Ben. Room was excellent. Modern and spotless. Food was amazing. We had dinner and breakfast. Top marks for all staff on customer service. Highly recommend the Coachman's Inn. I look forward to our next visit.

We had a delicious meal, from a good menu, at a good price. Nice atmosphere, and lovely and warm on a cold day. Staff members were very friendly and Michael assigned us to a quieter table with minimal fuss when we asked. Thank you for your hospitality

The Coachman’s is new to Roscommon as a place to stay. We booked a 3 night stay to visit family, and needed 2 rooms for an older couple and grown up relative. The restaurant had been recommended by our family members as good for a variety of dietary needs. The rooms we were given had been newly refurbished, with good sized beds, modern shower rooms and decent towels and toiletries. It has parking nearby. It was good value in a town where there isn’t much choice for people who need to stay a number of nights. The restaurant catered for all ages and provided decent food which had good sized portions, and reasonably priced wine. So far so good. The significant downside is the lack of sound insulation which made sleep impossible in room 101, and could be heard in room 104 round the corner. They have a DJ at weekends which starts at 10.30 and finishes in the small hours after 1 am. For the occupant of the room above the bar ( 101) the noise of a couple having a shouting match in room 102 came through the walls, and soon after they had stopped arguing, then the DJ started and made the room vibrate so much that they got nauseous and came to our room to sleep on the floor until the noise ended after 1am. In room 104 we heard the music during the night, though not loudly, but we can hear the person next door snoring. While we give credit to the owners for doing their best to make a living in difficult times, we would say that we would probably not return to stay here, and if we did, we would ask for a room as far from the music as possible. It might be fine for a midweek stay, or for those who do not mind being heard by their neighbours, or those who come for the music.
