The hotel was under construction which we have dealt with before, but the room we had was obviously not ready for guests. It had just been painted and the door was propped open upon arrival. There was not a closet or anywhere to hang clothes, no chair, and no towel rods in the bathroom. The associate who checked us in said there was nothing she could do and that we could talk to the manager about getting a partial refund seeing as the room was not up to the standard we have come to expect from Holiday Inn Express. The manager was not available until the day we checked out and she said there was nothing she could do as far as a partial refund or a partial credit for a future stay.
The whole experience was quite disappointing especially as Holiday Inn Express is our go-to hotel for all our road trips. We feel the manager could have worked with us a little bit, but she made it sound like it was our fault for choosing a hotel that was going through renovations.
