Matina Pefkos Aparthotel

What a great place to stay! Great apartment overlooking the pool and also sea view. Everything you needed in the kitchen and spotlessly clean. Plenty of storage space and large rooms n the apartment. Really friendly staff and Very welcoming, nothing too much trouble. We ate in the Meltemi Restaurant and Peoples bar and both excellent food and a great choice. Early in the season but during the week more and more restaurants/bars in the area opened up. We would definitely visit again.

We've just returned from a wonderful 6 nights at Matina. This was our first visit to Greece and definitely won't be our last! We arrived early hours and was warmly welcomed, we'd already booked in on line, so just had to collect our key. We'd booked a 1 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment which was just what we needed with 2 teenagers. The apartment was clean & roomy. We'd also ordered some water, milk etc rom the shop that was there ready when we got to our room. Every member of staff we spoke too were friendly and made you feel so welcome. It was lovely to see staff back at Matina enjoying themselves playing pool or having a drink, talking to guests when they weren't working, they obviously enjoy working at Matina. The apartments are located a few minutes walk to Lee Beach and a short work to many bars and restaurants. The pool areas were kept cleaned and had no problem getting sunbed. We managed to watch a couple of the tribute bands which were also very good and the acrobatic show one lunch time by the pool. At night, the room was quiet and the air conditioning worked great. If you like self catering, this was a gem to find. Our only criticism (but wouldn't put us off re booking) was there wasn't an oven in the room like other self catering we had booked previously. Just ment we had to eat out every night, which wasnt a problem as there was so many amazing restaurants to choose from or the the restaurant and snack bar on site. We had the most relaxing, enjoyable stay at Matina and would highly recommend, we'll definitely be back very soon!

Having transferred from the Finas to the Matina after a BAD experience it was the best thing we did. The hotel was Greek … the staff were friendly, polite and our room was ground floor level with a small patio which was peaceful for us being retired. There was plenty of sun loungers around all pools. You could eat inside or outside. Being on half board as we budget our holiday everything was catered for. The restaurant did however have a policy that you could only have a starter and main or a main and dessert with just a few items were you had to pay extra. We would have for me tzatziki and my wife Greek salad for starters and shared so we got the best of both. If you stayed H.B. you chose from a slightly different menu than if you stayed on self catering. The food was excellent and a good Greek verity. The hotel is virtually on the beach and it’s a nice stroll to the Main Street for shops. Would we stay here again 100% DEFINITELY.

I am writing this on our last evening before flying home tomorrow. We have had a week here. Self catering. Although not a lot of catering just breakfast on the balcony. Yes the rooms are basic, yes they are a bit tired in.places but we have had a great week and would come back The complex is really.nice. 2 good pools. 2 bars. Plenty of sunbeds. No reserving here. Not sure what August would be like. Lots of really nice restaurants. The beach just round the corner, what more do.you need.

This was our second time visiting the hotel and it didn’t disappoint. The hotel is ideally situated as five mins from the beach and other bars and restaurants. We arrived around 2am and check in was quick and simple, we even managed to have a couple of beers in the bar before we went up to our rooms. Rooms are clean and spacious although they feel very dated and could do with a bit of a revamp but as we don’t spend that much time in the rooms it wasn’t an issue but would like to see them updated as looking very tired. Pools are lovely and clean, we spent most of the time round the quieter pool, didn’t have to get up early to reserve a bed as there was plenty available throughout the day. We booked half board, breakfast was a little bit of a let down, could do with a bit more of a selection and the cooked food hotter as was luke warm. Love bacon when on hols but couldn’t eat it here as a little undercooked for my taste as like it crispy. Evening meal was amazing, so much to choose from on the menu, although there was a couple of items which had an additional charge, however it was minimal so didn’t mind too much. The staff in the restaurant are so lovely, always happy to have a chat and a joke with us and they work so hard to make sure everything is to your liking. The bar area is lovely, never waiting long to be served and was always told to sit down as they would bring the drinks over. As soon as you have an empty glass they are back over to see if you want anything else. Again staff are amazing in here, they work so hard but always have the time to have a chat and a laugh with us. They play various different sports on the tv’s around the bar but also play loads of great music which gives it a great vibe. There was a couple of live singers on a few nights and we loved it, everyone was singing and getting up to have a dance. All in all this hotel is fabulous, the staff (sorry not good with names) definitely make this place what it is and makes you feel so welcome, we are now looking at coming back next year, can’t wait.

Did quite abit of research into where to go & where to stay for our holiday-likely our last as a family as with two older teenagers they won’t want to holiday with their boring parents anymore! Decided on the Matina & happy to say we made a really good choice. Accommodation - as others have said, it’s basic (but what more do you need? Air con free of charge as part of jet2 package & good Wi-Fi) Big rooms, nice & clean . Maid service excellent. One of our rooms was 520 - can’t recommend it enough, didn’t have a balcony-it’s a terrace which was massive & a sea view as well. Pool areas-really enjoyed sitting by the pool, plenty of sun loungers & a nice peaceful vibe. Food - stayed half board (never done this before but it seemed good value & avoided the arguments on where to eat) breakfast was pretty good but the biggest plus is you get to eat in the Meltemi restaurant on a night - fantastic food & service. Had abit of lunch a couple of days in the pool bar & this was good also & reasonably priced. Staff - everyone really friendly & nothing was too much trouble 10 out of 10. Location - 2 min walk to the beach, 6 min walk upto the town if you wanted to (plenty of bar’s & restaurants within a couple of mins walk if you didn’t want to walk into town). Fantastic - save paying beach sun lounger prices, we walked from the pool with just a towel & went swimming in the sea, then came back to the pool. Overall-we had a great holiday & glad we chose the Matina. Do your research before hand to make sure it’s what your are looking for & if it is, you won’t be disappointed.

Our family of four stayed at Matina this July. We were happy to have a really nice room with garden/sea view. The room was clean and spacious and kitchenette had everything we needed for partial selfcatering (microwave and toaster etc.). The two pools were really good for small kids and adults and there's also separate pool for toddlers. One of the best things was the location next to the beach and several nice restaurants. Also the hotel's own Meltemi restaurant and Matina snack bar had really good food and excellent service. Meltemi also catered really well our kids with special diets, which we are really greatful for. Airport service and on-site ABC supermarket were reasonably priced. At Matina you have everything you need for a good holiday close by.

Have been travelling to Pefkos for quite a few years but always stayed at different accommodation so this was the first time at the Matina and it did not disappoint. Perfect location, short walk from the beach and pubs and restaurants, with a lovely restaurant on site Meltemi and Peoples Bar/Matina Bar and two fab pools with plenty of sun beds. Staff were always friendly around the complex and on the first morning when our toaster did not work a quick call and we received a new one. We felt so relaxed during our 11 nights that we’ve booked again for next year. The apartments some would say need a bit of an update but to be honest we found them fine with everything we needed in the kitchen area and having a table and chairs was good. The bathroom was fine, the only thing I’d say is the shower is stuck on the wall at an odd angle to use properly and the shower curtains need replacing with maybe a screen but apart from that we had no issues. The beds were comfy and there was enough clothes space. I would recommend this complex, its basic compared to the odd few but is adequate enough for what you need.

Fourth visits to Matina, but we haven’t been in 7 years. Last week of the season and although the resort was very quiet (a ghost town), the Marina apartments kept going until November 5th. The upgrades to the room amenities are good - we were in a 1 bed - and well appreciated. A few more glasses, iron and board in the rooms wouldn’t go a miss for the new season. The staff are superb, even in their final week of a long season they are still smiling. The meltimi restaurant is excellent and good value. Would highly recommend
