My dad and I stayed here for a week and would recommend if a few things were improved. I must admit, there was a lot that needs work: the pool was out of use for a few days due to algae build up, the food was often served late and water pressure was low or off a few times. Our ceiling fan didn’t work and our toilet pipe was also leaking which gave an awful smell, within 2 days this was fixed. Room service was sporadic and required you to leave your door unlocked for the day. Everything seemed a little disorganised and we understood that it was under new management and told there were no rotas etc planned for staff so hopefully this is improved for new guests asap. Unfortunately as the first guests of the season we felt a little like a practice run, although they were receptive of the feedback. Despite the many hiccups, the place itself is really pretty and tranquil. The location and design is beautiful and the outdoor bathrooms are a real treat. The aircon worked well and we appreciated the mosquito nets for added protection. The staff were very friendly and would be happy to do anything for you. You can use yoga mat’s available which was a nice touch. I also really enjoyed using the hammocks each day. Big thanks to the chef because no matter what they served you, if it was a local dish, it tasted amazing. The food was by far the best in the area (we tried 3 different hotel restaurants). The hoppers were delicious for breakfast! So if you are a foodie and don’t mind waiting a while for your meal, this is the place for you. Watch out for the tea / coffee that is left out from breakfast though, they charge you at the end of your trip for each time you used it, which we were not told about and assumed was included. For kitesurfing, please note there are multiple kite spots in the area and depending on the time of year depends which spot has the most consistent wind. After 2 days on the lagoon that was gusty and just not great this time of year (June) we realised that Mario (the kitesurfing school lead) was not going to be taking us to the best spots in the area (currently mini Vella & Vella) so we arranged a daily taxi 10 minutes up the road to The Rascals, where they will take you to the best wind spot each and every day of your trip. Other guests from Kitelantis also joined us a few days for this. Would be great if the kite school went where the wind was best each day, that’s what we have all travelled 100’s of miles and hours to this area for… the best wind spots! Overall, we would come back in a heart beat, so long as we were reassured that things were running more smoothly by the time we returned. Unfortunately, we cannot give 5 star rating right now, however, I think with improvements this place could be a real gem. Best of luck to management. Thank you for a peaceful stay.
