The Island is beautiful. Its feels a little bit like Robinson Crusoe which is surely still the result of the corona lock-down. There are a few little resorts (means a few bungalows with an open common area) and hardly any local living. Every resort was almost empty and everything looked like a refurbishment is needed although the gardening was well maintained. There is no good snorkeling from the beach since the island seems to be surrounded only by rocks. A snorkel trip by boat is therefore mandatory. The beach is very pretty but there are sandflies that are vary annoying. Be prepared to get bitten and protect yourself with strong mosquito repellient. Bayu Lestari: Many thanks to the reservation team which was awesome. Communication worked very well via mail and whats app. They were able to organize private transfers and everything worked out very well. The staff in general was very friendly and sweet. The lobby/restaurant area is open and cozy with lounge seats and wooden tables. The beach has wooden beach chairs and hammocks surrounded by palm trees that give enough shade. From the jetty you have a beautiful view on the island; I loved to do yoga there. The bungalows are very spacious with wooden floor, mosquito net and air-con. The bed is comfortable, the room was overall clean. The bathroom is very spacious as well but here comes the downside: it urgently needs renovation. There was mold on the wall and the shower door was old and filthy. There is no good circulation in the bathroom and that is the main problem. Some bungalows do not have a hot shower but thats ok because the water is not ice cold. The food comes not as buffet which I liked; they serve several plates with mostly fish, fried chicken, rice, veggies, egg and fruits. Tea/Coffee and water is free fill up all day. Malaysian food in generally is not the best, so the resort food was definitely fine. We stayed 4 nights so it became a little boring due to a lack of variation in dishes. But overall they did a good job. I only give an average result because it is a little overprized for what you get. But this seems to be a problem on all islands in this area. Compared to Malaysian standard pricing, every island charges way too much (Rawa Island and Batu Batu is ridiculous). Especially for Europeans it is not understandable although the location is just amazing.
