Ok, so we got home on Sunday after 2 weeks staying at The Eftalia Ocean Hotel. There were 5 of us for the first week and then another 13 family/friends joined us for our second week. Apologies in advance as this is a long one cos tbh I’m sick and tired of seeing negative reviews ripping into this hotel! Don’t believe all the negative reviews. Ignore them like we did, come with an open mind and experience it for yourself. Hopefully you’ll have a great holiday like we did! You are never ever going to please everyone! THE HOTEL: The hotel itself I think is fantastic. It’s very big. It’s the biggest hotel we’ve ever stayed in and this is our 6th time in Turkey. It’s got a lovely big lobby/reception area as you better which is kept impeccably clean at all times. The same goes for the pool area as well. Always someone picking up empty glasses and rubbish throughout the day and the staff were always polite. We would always acknowledge them and say hi and thank you. A thank you goes a long way! Myself and my 3 boys arrived at the hotel just after midnight and we were welcomed by a friendly gentleman on reception who checked us in quickly and fitted our wrist bands. Another nice guy took our luggage for us and took us straight to our room. He told us about the restaurant opening times. He did mention other stuff but tbh it was a little hard to catch what he was saying, but I wasn’t fussed as I’m not scared to speak to other guests and find out where things are. There are more than enough sun loungers for everyone. I would go down around 8/8:30 to pop towels down for us during our first week for the 5 of us before breakfast, and there were still loads of loungers. During the second week i’d go down earlier at around 7:30, as there was 18 of us, and we wanted to be together. We had no problems getting loungers together. There is also plenty of space to move the loungers around and the loungers weren’t squeezed in or too close together like other hotels I’ve been too. OUR ROOM: 2 bedroom family suite on the first floor which was huge! We had our own garden with 2 x tables, 4 x chairs and 2 lovely sun loungers. We were just around the corner from the reception, bar, Doctor and Guest relations. Our maid cleaned our rooms daily. We didn’t get any fancy towel decorations unlike my other family members who were on the other side of the hotel who got flowers, petals and towel art daily left on their beds, even though we left a 2 Euro tip for our maid daily, but maybe that’s just done by certain maids. Our room was cleaned, fresh towels and bedding changed daily and our fridge kept fully stocked every day so we can’t complain. RECEPTION STAFF: Our room was cooler at night during our second week, so I popped to reception to ask for some blankets and within 5 mins we had someone at our door with some lovely cosy blankets for us. Nothing was too much trouble. My boys lost their wristbands a few times on the slides in the pool and we went to reception and asked

Fantastic Hotel, stayed in swim up apartment, couldn’t ask for better service. Housecleaning amazing girls, Met Denis in Entertainment very welcoming and super friendly will definitely return as made to feel at home, a new home from home.

we stayed for 9 nights 19th to 28th September. on arrival we upgraded our room to a pool view for £60 which is cheap (we've paid £180 to do this in tenerife next summer) and the view was great. food I thought was pretty good, breakfast had a good choice of eggs toasts tomatoes, fresh fruit cereal fresh bread etc, obviously no pork products. lunch we ate from the snack bars by the pool everyday, jacket potatoes, fresh made pizzas, chicken kebabs chips chocolate waffles, all very nice. dinners had alot of choice too,plenty of pasta, rice things like terriyaki beef, chicken, braising steak in gravy,kebabs, all your salads fruits cheeses , I'm very fussy and could have had 3 meals every night, easily. rooms were very clean, mini fridge stocked with 4 bottles of Fanta,4 pepsi and 4 water daily, we left a small tip and had a case of each left for us. the pools are amazing, if you have children they will not get bored at all. the main pool did get closed twice and the children's pool once during our stay due to a child pooing in the pool, but I don't see how this is the hotels fault at all, it's the parents, infact I think the hotel did the right thing closing it to get it cleaned properly. the island has lots to do but a fair bit you do have to pay extra for, 2 euros a ride for the kids etc which you'd expect to pay anywhere else anyway but we spent most of our time at the hotel. shops in the hotel are very expensive yes, but there is a migros shop 10 minutes walk from the hotel which you can find on Google which is very cheap, 1/3 of the hotel shop prices. This hotel is not a 5 star, jet2 rate it at 4 star which I think is fair, I don't understand all the negativity on here unless people are going expecting 5 star, if you want genuine 5 star then triple your holiday budget. this hotel is well worth what they charge, and we'll be returning in 2026, we'd have returned next year if we hadn't already booked elsewhere. we've always stayed in 3/4 star hotels and this is genuinely in the top 3.

Do not listen to all the bad reviews on here. Go and make your holiday and you will have the best time. We didn’t upgrade our room like everyone says to do as we basically only use the room to get ready in and sleep. We are glad we didn’t as it was very expensive from what we heard and our room was fine for a family of 4 and was huge. So much space. Rooms have a little fridge that they re stock with water and fizzy pop. Air con is awesome!! Lots of mirrors, a hairdryer, and comfy beds. The pools are amazing, soooo many to choose from and slides to ride galore!!! The food was fine, always something to eat but it does get a little repetitive we found and the main resultant is very busy. We booked the Grill restaurant on the island and it was amazing food and so nice to not Q for food that evening. One thing we didn’t understand is why you only get one visit to a restaurant as every hotel i’ve ever been to you can usually use them all. We think that if they offered more goes in the restaurants then it would help with the busy main restaurant making it less busy and less food waste as it’s not buffet style. The drinks are okay, but we are not really fussy!! We mixed the wine with lemonade which made it nicer and the beer was nice. We also liked the vodka so in the evenings we drank that. It’s a shame cocktails are not included or slushes for kids. I’ve not been to a place before where they are extra but it didn’t matter, We brought cocktails one evening for a change and they were very nice!! We found that if you tip the evening bar man at the pool bar he sorts you out with drinks and had them ready every time he saw us leave our seat. We also had one evening where he gave us big glasses and a pint stein glass for beer which was a lovely surprise!! He is the best barman!!!! The entertainment was good, we enjoyed it. Usually a dance act one night and then the next night wasn’t as good so we went over to the island and watched the entertainment there on their evenings. They did karaoke and my daughter enjoyed that. You do have to reserve your sun beds if you want a good area. I got up at 6am every morning (looking like death) and put towels and inflatables on them so to get a good spot. The pools were never closed when we were there but i did hear that if someone poops in the pools they shut them all day! Warning - The floor around the pools area is super slippy. I had read reviews and didn’t think anything of it but it’s unbelievably slippy. We must of saw about 10 people slip/fall each day . Do not buy clothes from the hotel - sooo expensive! Wait until sunday - market day. We had so much fun bartering and brought so much from the market. Do not buy snacks in the hotel - so expensive!! There is a supermarket shop up the road pass the big ben pub that has all your needs for half the hotel prices. Trips - we did the Pink jeep safari - 10******* rating. I highly recommend this trip.
