Some very good things about here, some not so good, i think it needs a tweak and it will bring it up a bit, but ok for a one night break. We went on the country breaks offer which consists of a free drink dining allowance of £40 each for meal in The Herd restaurant and breakfast. Room was quirky but clean and quiet, had large bed and decent bathroom with some toiletries, you also get tea coffee stuff in the room which was nice. The meal was decent and appropriately priced , they specialise in steaks and were quite tastey, the sharing board with the hummus a little disappointing for a starter for two , but my husbands meat board was good value and quiet large for the one person portion, the main issue was with the extra onion rings which were typical freezer shop variety not the "chunky" as described which i would have thought to be homemade, soggy pale and just not good quality. We did not have dessert as were too full after the steak which comes with really lovely chips and other bits as was a nice meal in quirky surroundings. When the bill arrived in a little box thought it would have a couple of choccies in too, but it didnt ! shame , its the little extras that make all the difference ! Breakfast typical as would expect and my husband had the full english which looked really good, I had the pancakes which arrived with normal not crispy bacon , but were also good, you can help yourself to other bits from a table , the juice wasnt nice i dont get why these places serve cheap orange juice and inferior cheap cranberry juice, its really not good enough quality and devalues the quality of the breakfast.I would say this break is quite good value booking through the country breaks company, do tell the place as they try to charge you for things included , other than that enjoyable.
