The Esplanade Hotel by Compass Hospitality

DO NOT STAY HERE! BUY A TENT INSTEAD The mattresses are so bad the springs leave an imprint in your back. The lift wasn't working. There was mould in the shower. The en-suit was so small I could sit on the loo, brush my teeth & wash my feet in the shower all at the same time. The bedding was stained & dirty. We found & felt bed bugs bite us! The decor was from the 60's (minus the entrance which was pleasant). The view from the room was onto other bedroom windows & an aircon unit. We've had better breakfast from Wetherspoon's. It felt like we were in an old persons care home. WE WILL NEVER RETURN HERE!

Stayed for 2 nights. Checked in after a long tiring journey and no offer to help with the bags even though lift was out of order, just pointed in general direction of our room and left to find it for ourselves. Room was smaller than expected. Tried the shower, barely any water pressure and was also concerned at the wires in the shower ceiling. Husband also needed to take his medication and couldn’t get any cold water out the sink, so went to reception to ask for a bottle of water. They said they had no bottles of water and gave him a jug of water instead. Bed was comfortable but that was the only plus. Staff seem generally pleasant, but place is quite dated and run down.

Absolutely fantastic stay the hotel night porter that was on Friday and Saturday night was absolutely fantastic Very helpful and very polite didn't get his name but he was amazing. The room was absolutely amazing and warm fantastic hotel great atmosphere. The young lad on night porter was the best big shout out to him thank you so much see U again soon

No lampshade No main light switch beside bed. Toilet door rubbing on new carpet. Needs easing. Dirty windows. Very poor decorations. Lack of protection when decorating. Paint on the floor in lift. Generally poor decorations throughout. Paint on door handles. Holes in wall where new tv fitted. Poor decoration in the hall and throughout hotel First room we were given the access to already occupied! Second room key not working when we returned. Breakfast price ridiculous. £20 for 7 items??? Lack of plug sockets. Tea/coffee mugs too small. Shower pressure not strong enough. One lift not working. Therefore No wheelchair access. Restaurant not open Saturday night when we arrived. Excuse given, lack of bookings! Poor quality furniture. No doors on wardrobe. Toilet seat insecure. No one on duty when we left!!

Firstly I have to say how fabulous all the staff were during our two night stay, especially Sarah and her son Charlie who were both outstanding. The breakfast was very good, costing £10 ppn. Recomend that it is prebooked the day before as we missed out on our first morning. Good car parking right outside costing £6 per day. However things could have been better in the hotel, ie., a broken bed, (which was quickly sorted out after being reported to reception), tiny ensuite shower room which could be very difficult for large people and no toilet brush!!! The lift was not working which didn't help. Would we stay there again.....yes. Excellent position, reasonable rates and fabulous staff.

My dad (Gordon) stayed here just last week and had the most wonderful time. He was so very well looked after and the team of Kim & Ian along with Sarah and Ian were just excellent and nothing was too much trouble. They really made his holiday with their wonderful hospitality. The hotel has been renovated and everywhere was just so fresh and lovely. This seafront hotel is a marvellous location and also has its own car park. He can’t wait to return and is going to book another week. It’s a lovely hotel and with the wonderful team we highly recommend. (Also the breakfast is superb) many thanks for a wonderful stay.
