So probably should split into the highs and lows perhaps, and 3 being harsh possibly but it's definitely not a 4 Star stay. Highs: Staff were amazing, food very good and good value. We ate in the restaurant first night and all the meat eaters had Osteritch which was very well received. Breakfast was good too, served nicely with a great spread. Lows: Offered Farm Tour on booking, on arrival and sign in reception but when tried to book the chap who owned the farm was away!!! Whole point of staying in Oudtshoorn was to experience the Ostritch farm, meet and history! Some of the party fancied lunch on one day which we didn't realise had to be booked (hotel stated food was available) and begrudgingly they wipped up some food, which was excellent but didn't need the push back! The biggest gripe was the air-conditioning. Two rooms it didn't work, ours was noisy as he'll and wasn't until we crawled into bed did we realise it has literally soaked the bed, mattress, duvet and pillows in the middle of the bed under where it was sited. Now you could say we could have called it through but what's going to happen at 10pm at night so we kept to outside of bed and reported it in the morning. This was treated with 'oh its just been fixed' and we'll take a look - which never happened. As it happened it didn't leak any more so guessing may have been residual or from fix. The paranoia is you don't mess with air con and Legionella pneumophila, I literally had head surgery just over 4 weeks ago sleeping right byvthis was not a comfy feeling, even less was the seriousness of reporting it. Would we return is always the key question and no is the unanimous response, just too much needs updating in the bedrooms too, wardrobes, TVs, WIFI signal for modern travellers.
