We were 2 couples staying at Hotel Europe for 3 nights. Arrival in the evening and checking in was seamless. However when we asked the night staff at the reception desk for extra tea/coffee, he was very rude and said we need to buy our own supplies. Room service would only replenish 2 coffee sachets, 2 teabags and 2 sachets of cream per 24 hours. I have never come across any hotel that rations tea/coffee to guests. It almost felt like we were made to beg for the drinks. There were some positives to the hotel. The location is ideal. Walking distance from the beach and in the heart of the shopping centre. The railway station was walking distance too, as we took a trip to Brugee. On the first morning for breakfast, the scrambled eggs were placed in the food warmer tray next to bacon slices. Being Muslim, we asked the staff if we could have scrambled eggs prepared separately. Marc, the chef, came out and straightaway arranged this for us. The following 2 mornings, we were offered scrambled eggs, which was really nice. Heidi the front desk receptionist was very friendly and helpful too. The service offered nowhere near matched the price. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. The night staff need to be trained to improve on their customer service skills!
